You've got to be kidding, where I live now 55 year olds look better than the 30 year olds do where I grew up. So put that in your pipe and smoke it

Jay Leno is 68 years old. Is he odd because he is a car enthusiast? Are all of his car enthusiast guests odd too? I guess all the old guys on Harleys are odd as well, go ahead tell them they are odd

Hilarious.

All of us old guys are getting totally indignant. Yes, the plumbing doesn't quite work the way it used too. A doctor sticks a finger up my butt each year - once upon a time that activity was reserved for "fun time," and now it's a medical procedure. And there's the insult of young gals treating me like some perfectly cuddly and sexless thing - like a koala.

But how dare you question my love of M cars??? That is a bridge too far!!!

RIP M2C driver. Btw... the driver was a high level manager for BMW AG. Makes the news even more sadder.

Either the safety parameters are subpar (unlikely) or it was just the driver's time to go. As some1 mentioned earlier, you can trip, crick your neck & be dead.
An oddity?? At 32 I feel like a child among my M cohorts!

RIP

I hope it was painless for him and he didn't freak out. Meaning I hope it wasn't terrifying for him before he went.....it breaks my heart. I'll say a little prayer for his friends and family.

Nope, the skin of the roof is not structural. Just the cross bars. The roof rails are structural.

People are most defensive when there is truth to the matter, evident by my "age" post....

By 55 I would expect people to have generally wised up and moved on to greater luxury, not to be stuck driving a car oriented for less affluent(not poor, mind u) youth or be trying to recapture the feeling of being young with a tiny sports car.

I can go on a diatribe here, but I'll cut it short.
RIP to the gentleman/woman that lost their life in this unfortunate circumstance.

Well since you are driving a 528 and a Merc, you are probably no spring chicken and you probably just won't allow yourself to have the M2 that you secretly want.

Guys,

Let's not feed the trolls. Honestly, I'm quite thankful to that gentlemen for the original comment. Created an opening for some levity in this very sad thread. We got a chance to poke some fun at ourselves and get a few laughs.

No need to derail the good vibes to respond to, quite honestly, some truly bizarre stuff from out of left field.

I said this elsewhere, but I think it applies equally well here.

Man... what is it about the internet?

I suspect we as a species have a built in fear of reprisal and/or social ostracism that ensures we filter what we say. Take us out of that ancestral environment, where we get the immediate feedback from others' facial expressions and non-verbal cues, and suddenly we all end up saying things that maybe we might not in face-to-face interactions.

I used to spend lots of time on reddit - many of the conversations there were really interesting. But, after a while, the negativity really drives anyone with any pro-social tendencies away. So, I became a car nut and came here.

This forum is incredibly insightful and members are really funny and know their stuff and it's fun to share childish obsession over color and mods, etc.

But every once in a while, there is just some strange negativity that comes in. I read the really strangely aggressive and antagonistic posts and my reaction is always, "WTF? Where did that come from?" Probably best to just ignore entirely.

I think it is about time ALL BMW Ms get M xDrive wouldn't you say?!

If you want the added traction it is their if you need it, and if you don't, you the driver just simply has to hit a button. Sounds good to me!
