Interest in custom trunk mats?

Sometimes I carry firewood in my M2 and I get splinters in the trunk carpet that are hard to get out of the carpet. I also put my ice scraper back there and if there is road salt on it, it's a PIA to clean out of the carpet. So I'm looking into making a simple liner/mat with cutouts for the net and tie-downs.

The liner would be fabric and machine washable, so you can easily pull it out and stick it in the washing machine. Likely held down with velcro at the edges. And I'd have a source for you to pick whatever fabric/pattern you want.

Would there be any interest in something like this?

You want something different than what is already offered by WeatherTech and OEM?

I have the OEM trunk liner and it's perfect. That said, I don't carry firewood around, so maybe that's an edge case that requires a custom mat.

Sounds like a weather tech mat is what you're looking for. Cleaning carpet mats (particularly one that large) would be a pain in the rear.

No, weathertech isn't what I'm looking for. It's not something I can pull out and toss in a washing machine. And I already have the weathertech front liners, the plastic is impossible to keep looking new. Also the hard plastic is not skid resistant, so everything will slide around in my trunk. Weathertech also does not have rear net provisions. This combines with not having my rear seat installed makes for a particularly unpleasant experience.

I'm well aware of all rear matt options for the 2 series. I'm sorry, but I'm not asking for recommendations. I'm asking if anyone would want a custom made fabric liner, as I'm making one for myself.

What kind of material did you settle on? Wondering if your fabric would contribute to a rear seat delete?

I have a fabric pattern I like, that I want to make my own out of. But I'm not sure how well it will wear or if others will be happy with it. I did ask AMX Performance about having the material used in custom seats and he said it's not durable enough for daily seat use. But that's just me and my own thoughts about what I want. I kinda want to leave it up to whoever wants one to pick their own fabric. Because even though I might be happy with something similar to a tablecloth, others might not be.

And yea, the other day I was looking into buying the stern rear seat delete and using it as a template, then returning it after. Honestly, would be more simple for me to make my own template. My rear seat is already removed anyway.

There is a new model sewing machine that came out that I want, but it's sold out mostly everywhere. One popped up on ebay yesterday that I have a bid in on. Otherwise I'm waiting until Black Friday to see what I can pickup.

I actually just bought the Stern rear delete today. Post some pictures of your finished product! Good luck!

Won an auction for the sewing machine I wanted today. Never used one before. I imagine it's more complicated than "put fabric in one end, comes out stitched the other end", though I haven't seen evidence to convince me otherwise lol. I'm gonna learn how to make face masks first. Then move on to making a trunk liner. Kinda just doing this in my spare time.
