I'm on the fence of what to do. I found the installer I trust the most. High reputation. The best work, and who I feel comfortable with. XPEL

I won't be daily driving or even highway driving this car really. Likely it will see maybe 1500 miles/yr.

1) $2600 for full hood, fenders, mirror caps bumper, splitter and headlights.
2) $400 rockers.
3) 365 to remove factory 3M fender piece and place a much larger one that also goes on the rear bumper behind wheels.
4) $900 Front bumper and headlights only.

He stated that it might be best to not even PPF at all with the way i'll be using the car.

Right now I'm thinking bumper with headlights or nothing at all.

I'll be coating the whole car and wheels with GTechniq as well.

Tough call. What color car are you getting.

MB, AW, or HS I'd probably get the front bumper done. More because it makes it easier to get the bugs off. That price seems really high though for front bumper.

Mine will be my DD and roughly 8k miles per year. I'm going full front, mirrors, and rockers. I'm not a fan of PPF. I prefer the look without it.

I keep going back and forth on this myself. Never PPF'd my 1M, and now that it's a track car the defects bug me when I wash it, but honestly from 6 feet away or in photos it looks great.

Definitely doing ceramic coat.

I just talked myself into full coverage PPF

Started with "let's get full front and mirrors"
Oh and need a pillars too
Oh and rockers
Guess we should do leading edge of roof as not sure how that will hold up.
Oh kit has entire roof yeah let's do that then as no line then!
Oh need strike zone of rear quarters too. Wait that kit has entire quarter coverage for about same price
Is there kit for lower half of doors. Oh kit is entire door ok let's do it.
Ok small strip for luggage area on rear bumper.

"So gonna do all that but not rear bumper or trunk 🙈"

Damnit... ok let's do the whole car. Haha.

I can't stand rock chips. Drives me nuts. Front and leading part of quarters is a must for me. Have several friends, with amazing cars, that don't get bothered by rock chips. For them PPF doesn't make sense.

Luckily.... I know a guy.

Cost is definitely high. Luckily I own an auto shop and we have a partner that does this in house for us so will be a fraction of retail. But I bet it will still be $3,500-4,000.

3 different shops quoted $6,500 for full PPF. Coverage of the roof is a must IMO, especially if ever parked in direct sunlight.

That is insane! I park mine inside, will drive it sparingly and will ceramic coat the hell out of it.

I think $7k was paint correction, full ppf and full ceramic if I wanted it.

I'm at about 4500 for paint correction, full front ppf, PPF rockers, cquartz reserve, full nano tint.

In my opinion the paint correction is the most important.

I got two prices for full ppf. first was for 3m pro $4300, second was for $3600 for suntec ultra. both installers are equal in reputation. the second shop then lowered his price to $3000 for suntek (pretty low) and that was kinda shocking. I went with the first installer with the 3m and he is doing it for $3800. $3000 seemed a little to good to be true and the sales person was a little to hungry for the job.

Most PPF allow UV through to allow even paint fading for non covered areas. I'd suggest making sure the ppf your using for the roof to protect from sun damage doesn't allow UV through.. if any exists, no expert here.

Did a google search and found this.. which seems to explain what I was trying to say better.

Since I don't know much about PPF and ceramic coatings I decided to do some research. Found this link which seems to explain each..

Who is planning on doing nothing? My 1M has 3M on the front, halfway up the hood, bumper, mirrors and rear wheel fender flairs. I keep it ceramic coated.

You are right, they claim no yellowing from UV for the PPF itself and only loosely claim it offers some UV protection for paint/carbon underneath in marketing spiel, but certainly not a stated feature unless it's a window film.

Lets see what the installer has to say when I drop her off (hopefully) next week!

Anyone have experience with Kavaca PPF (from Ceramic Pro)? Their videos and online literature are pretty compelling. The clarity and depth/shine are appealing, as is the instant self-healing (though their demos with the wire toothbrush are questionable).
