This seems like excellent blog content. Hint hint. And we can have a small CS meetup in Charlotte

Just do the paint protection and keep the factory color. I think a quality alternative to the normal ppf could be interesting. I'm guessing you would still do paint correction and ceramic.

I think they have a clear option .... or you can match the factory color!

This tough looks pretty tough. Some good info on here.

I question if it would burn off the wheels from heat if doing inner barrel. But, you may be able to build it up enough to keep rocks from getting between barrel and caliper.

Edit: thoughts from my quick youtube search. Autoflex has evolved from a cheap plasidip type product. However, there isn't much new content about it. Most is from 3 to 4 years ago. Seems to be a significant evolution since then. I won't take the gamble with my dollars without seeing some long term durability of the latest product generation, but it looks to be pretty good. It still would require paint correction so the cost would be close to 5k for clear coat and then paint correction plus ceramic. That could be overkill and an old way of thinking. Maybe just Autoflex, and correction. I think ceramic would be good because this coating may scratch easily.

It does not require paint correction. That could be done after you remove it, 5 or more years down the road. But then, your paint will be pristine and look like new.

I just today took these pictures. The Autoflex is 2.5 years old.

I mean paint correction for the Autoflex coating. Does it orange peel like regular paint? How has the scratch resistance been? Would you/ did you ceramic coat the autoplex? My big question is why this hasn't gained more attention. Did it get a bad wrap , and not recover as product improved? What/who convinced you to try it?

Why does it cost less than an actual paint job? Seems like labor is similar?

I admit, yours looks good.

Ohhh...

Original Autoflex did have some Orange peel look, just like classic BMW paint jobs from 15 or 20 years ago. Looked thick and shiny. The new AF Gloss is very smooth and doesn't have any orange peel, so wouldn't need correction. I did ceramic coat it, which cost me $69 for CG Quartz and took a couple hours in my garage. Easy.

Applying takes someone who has a high quality paint booth and paint gun. Painters probably still want to paint cars since they can charge more. And let's face it, a lot of wrap shops are not skilled craftsmen. I see tons of really bad wraps.

The original mat finish "dips" looked awful. But Autoflex (Ngenco in Europe) is not "dip."

Spaying a finish is faster than individually wrapping every little angle if a car. Check out our Instagram, at the very beginning of our pictures for a few photos of the process.

New technology always takes time to gain acceptance.

It really does look great! I am afraid I would then need PPF on top of that. Seriously the amount of sand and rocks on our roads in Colorado, without any protection the front of your car looks sandblasted at 50k. I think I'm going to enjoy MB and don't want to change it. I would consider it for my AW 1M (Fire Orange maybe?) but then again, would need PPF on top of that.

This isn't a CS, just a heavily modified M2.

I'm on the list!

I met with my local Xpel installer this morning and the M2cs was in the database, INCLUDING the rear diffuser. I am only doing a partial wrap, but I some people were interested in complete car including the diffuser.

What's best PPF? I've seen that 3M Scotchgard Pro is good but have several installers tell me Suntek Ultra is better. Anyone planning to do entire car and what prices have you been quoted?

How soon after PPF do you have ceramic done?
Park it in a well ventilated, humidity controlled garage, with a dust sheet over it and come back in 10 years.
