I got a harbor freight ½" torque wrench for next to nothing as well (don't crucify me). I'll end up with a really expensive one at some point, but this one works for now. Check for coupons, I think I picked it up for $10.

It's the stigma of cheap tools, especially something that needs to be pretty spot on. As a rule I buy Snap-On/Matco/Dewalt/Makita/etc, but with this particular part I needed it asap, so HF it was. Works fine, but I'm not sure about the exact accuracy.

You don't really need an accurate wrench for wheels. If the spec is 88 ft/lb or something then just set it to 90 or 100 and you're good. Most shops and dealerships tighten the shit out of them anyway via impact gun, way past spec, and I rarely hear of problems.

What I did before I took it to the dealer was torque it to spec, and then drew a black line across the bolt/wheel with a black magic marker. They didn't even notice. Once I got the car back I checked the torque. Supposed to be 77, was sitting at 150 on that one side. They are the dealer, they are supposed to know their business, hold them accountable. |

In my biased opinion, the 437s look great on the M2C, especially the HS color. I wear them on mine. When I traded my 2017 M2 for the M2C, I asked the dealer to swap the wheels from my old car... they thought I was nuts!

Anyone know what the max width size I can put on the 437Ms that would fit on the M2C rears without any issues? I know the 437s with 275s will work in the rear, but what about 295s in the rear?

I can tell you from some research and from messaging 2Putt that the 255/275 are non issues on a stock suspension. I will tell you though that if you went with a square 255 setup, the rear rims will be pretty exposed, so you want a wider tire in the back on the 788s.

So when I bought my 437M with Pirelli Sottozeros already mounted on them the seller had them marked Left front, right front, Left rear, right rear. I understand that Fronts and Rears cant be swapped due to obvious staggered setup, however why the Left and Right markings? These aren't directional tires are they? If so, I dont see the markings on the tire.

Maybe to keep track of them so they get rotated next season? I did that to my summers when I took them off.

Winters are on
So I swapped the wheels to 437M with winter tires. First time doing this with all the right tools, my only concern was the torque wrench was meant to click once I torqued to 140, but I didnt hear anything. What am I missing guys? My torque wrench is a TEKTON 1/2 Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench (10-150 ft.-lb.). I pretty much could go all the way to stop and no click. Some pics of the HS Comp with 437s. So much easier to put on due to weight and the ease of access to the lugs (versus the 788s). Also, love the concave design of the wheels when on the car.
Thanks for all the tips guys, most importantly the hanger pin!! Pics below: |

Makes sense about keeping the rotation the same. Thanks for the follow up.
140 Nm or 140 lbs foot? BMW recommends 140 Nm or 101 lbs ft. |

Did some googling and didn’t find anything. Tire rack winter tire rotation page recommends maintaining rotation direction for studded snows, doesn’t mention regular studless winters. |
