"OEM" Ambient Lighting Install
After seeing ambient lighting in some of the newer models I decided to take a stab at bringing up the interior of the M2.
I used a fibre optical ambient lighting kit similar to this one: https://www.dmpcardesign.com/accesso...product_id=221. You can find similar kits on ebay, the only thing to watch out for is the quality of the optical tube. Some of the cheaper kits have lesser quality tubes that have cracks and inconsistencies that the light catches and might not look great. The kit I used had a single control module that controls 4 LEDs (one for each door and one for each side of the console). I ran power from the 12v adapter in the rear of the center console since I didn't want to splice into any wires. The wires are all hidden under the center console and the main control module is hidden under the cup holder. I then ran power from the center console under the foot wells and through to the doors via the rubber harness hose (this was pretty tough). The project requires a ton of trim removal, but if you're up to it the result is well worth it. I'm happy to provide more info for anyone who would like to know more. |

It's crazy the 2 series/M2 doesn't come with any ambient lightning, but this looks awesome!

That would be fantastic if you could dim it way down to where it was truly "ambient" lighting and not "club lighting."

It definitely isn't as bright in person, I think my phone was using a long exposure to get more light in. But the lighting can also be adjusted in terms of brightness and color via bluetooth and an app on your phone. |

Correct. I fed the optic tube between the trim (behind the door handle) to behind the door card. It required a small hole to be made in the plastic of the door card itself and then the led module sits behind the door card.

oooo very cool, though I wish it came in Orange. I had an 8 series as a loaner and actually liked the ambient lighting (and change the color)
Anyway, check this F22 post out (should be same steps for F87) > https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1644506 (that one is Orange only, however it has an Orange finish and would look awkward on my LBB during the daytime) |

4m of fibre optic is too little. The 5m option worked perfectly for me
