DIY M2C Mirror Retrofit Full guide with prices

Hello to all,

now as we all know, the fact that the M Mirrors were not on the OG M2 was a pain to all, not to mention when it came out on the M2C it just rubbed salt into wounds, now i know there have been alternatives such as AutoID ect but with no disrespect intended it never really interested me nor did i really like the design,

so after doing some digging for parts numbers i decided to do it myself, by no means the cheap option i went onto https://www.leebmann24.de/ ( you'll have to translate the page unless you're german because they do dislike anyone who remotely speaks english which is typical of any german e shop be prepared to translate any email responses from them because even if you message them in english they will respond in german lol) and the parts numbers i was looking for were as follows, with price including deliver to me here in the czech republic was....

M Aussenspiegel ohne Glas beheizt links (51168076669) 51168076669 1 €574,90
M Aussenspiegel ohne Glas beheizt rechts (51168080454) 51168080454 1 €574,90
Zwischensumme (Brutto) €1.149,80
Versand & Bearbeitung €15,99
Steuer €186,13
Gesamtsumme €1.165,79 ( which translates to )

( M exterior mirror without glass heated left (51168076669) 51168076669 1 € 574,90
M exterior mirror without glass heated right (51168080454) 51168080454 1 € 574,90
Subtotal (gross) € 1,149.80
Shipping & Handling € 15,99
Tax € 186.13
Total € 1,165.79 )

I know this may seem expensive, but ask yourself if these were an additional option when on the configurator, would you really not spec it?.

What you are paying for here is the actual untis of the left and right wing mirror that DO come with the arm which connects to the actual door it self, so once again i repeat this DOES include the ARM which connects to the DOOR, ready to be fitted to the M2.

DISCLAIMER********* What i found out it DOES NOT CONTAIN, is the actual Glass mirror it self on both the left and right side and also the COVER which goes on the face of the mirror above the LED STRIP INDICATOR.

So you pay for the unit and it arrives in 3-6 days, thankfully i have an abnormally good relationship with my dealer and now my service manager who understands my frustation at BMW not fitting these to the OG M2 and wanted to help at all costs even though it was taking his precious time ( Guy's unless you have a willing service manager who is a car guy and is passionate about cars and the project you are doing then the next stage will be more difficult for you to do ).

The parts arrived without the glass and covers, no problem my service manager and my dealer found a solution where they had a new M2C coming in so they used the VIN to order the parts and few days later all was well and they arrived, everything was fitted and i finally have pictures to show you, apologies they were a little rushed and i don't have the full price for fitment and for the covers and glass but this is the best i have for the moment.

Feedback from my service manager was that it all fits perfectly ( surprise surprise ) and agreed that the car instantly looks better and more aggressive and is happy to see the project coming to completion.

To all you guys who want this done, its not hard, its not difficult and if someone tells you '' Sorry sir its not possible you can see the arm on the door is different from the current arm you have on your car it won't fit'', don't let this BullSh*t faze you its all a big fat lie, you just need to find people willing to do it and making them understand why you need it and offering to help along the way, i am very lucky to have a great dealership who not only does this for me but also lends me the latest cars to test out free of charge in exchange for a few pictures and honest reviews on instagram, it can all be done so never let anyone tell you it can't.

My next project and final one for the M2 is fitting the M2C M Sport seats, i am currently in negeotiations with my parts guy ( who is a little difficult ) but he has come up with the solution of using parts from my old stock seats to use them as donors so i can keep the frame and bottom electrical parts and just buy the main parts of the M2C seats to make it an M2C M Sport seat, this was his own suggestion, so back to what i said, if you have a vision and you know it can be done then don't let some stupid uneducated moron tell you '' its not possible sir''.

I hope this helped anyone like me who has been told '' no'' a few times don't worry theres light at the end of the tunnel.

Big shout out to the guys at https://www.bmw-synotauto.cz/

Cheers

the units was already in black but the covers once they arrived were in the classic grey primer so they had to be painted to BSM which is the colour of my car

Do these use the same glass as standard, or is it new glass?

If it's new glass, do both of your mirrors dim / anti-dazzle now? In the US, only the driver mirror has the dimming as stock and it's weird (why not the passenger side too?)

Cheers

so after doing some digging for parts numbers i decided to do it myself, by no means the cheap option i went onto https://www.leebmann24.de/ ( you'll have to translate the page unless you're german because they do dislike anyone who remotely speaks english which is typical of any german e shop be prepared to translate any email responses from them because even if you message them in english they will respond in german lol) and the parts numbers i was looking for were as follows, with price including deliver to me here in the czech republic was....

Hello

Nope no screws came with the car just 2 wing mirror units without glass or covers

I presume they reused the screws from the original wing mirrors!

If you need anything else just ask

Hello, yes!

I ordered 2 Manual seats off some parts dealer on eBay from a bone standard M4, and refitted them in the M2C trim it was a little expensive but it's all done now.

Old ones are used for coffee table chairs haha.

not to be contrary but the M mirror (although beautiful) tip blocks your vision on sharp left turns. The upper door speaker is mostly the blockage but the mirror just adds to it... anyone find this too
