Sound is 50% for me.
Only the seats are a win for comp. But OG owners could fix that in a moment. |

If a better blue or the Mineral Gray were available i would own a M2C! Dynamically both the M2C and OGM2 are very good. Since I modify everything i own, the M2C is clearly the better option between the OGM2 and M2C. As for the original post, the OG M2 in mineral grey has had me on the fence since it was released. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger was the N55. I have looked into FBO and a bigger turbo, however I would always feel I spent a ton of money on an inferior motor. Again my opinion. I'm sure many feel differently, but that's what make the car community strong. Both are fantastic cars that will be regarded as BMW classics in the future. Off topic: At the time the 1M was released i had a 135i. I had the oportunity to get a 1M at MSRP and passed because of the color choices. This was clearly a mistake, however you can see what is important to me.

Positives: More torque is noticeable but at higher RPM. No complaints. Better brakes, maybe too good. Given a choice I would have taken brakes that would allow me to use my 18" Apex EC7's. The brakes were great in the 17M2 "OG". Good exhaust sounds, did not loose anything here. Mirrors look cool. Seats are better. Negatives: The push button to turn on the rain sensor wipers is gone from the 17M2. You need to move the lever and adjust the auto wipe speed or rain sensitivity. The lever seems like a cost cutting idea and is like the one in the x3M40. The button felt like quality and was more functional in my opinion. The cup holder in the center console is either back further or the dash sticks out more. My BMW M coffee cup holder does not fit as well, but still fits. Apple car play is more xxxxed up than my 17M2 was. I don't know how they can go backwards but they may have accomplished just that. I probably need to spend some time with it and see if I can figure it out. All in all, glad I made the switch for all of the reasons previously stated. |

More torque is noticeable but at higher RPM. No complaints. - Agree and a given. Better brakes, maybe too good. Given a choice I would have taken brakes that would allow me to use my 18" Apex EC7's. The brakes were great in the 17M2 "OG". - The OG calipers were perfectly balanced, the M2C ones are overkill while adding weight and limiting wheel options. Good exhaust sounds, did not loose anything here. - surprising, you sure you're not just hearing the ASD? Mirrors look cool. - Agreed. Seats are better. - Better but would still prefer a proper race seat Couldn't help it. |

Original F87 M2, M2 Competition and M2 CS: I knew a couple of things about these cars quite some time before their official release. The future will tell whether the same applies to the G87 M2 (maybe / maybe not).
And, of course, during development things can take a turn: accurate info at some point in time can become outdated. For example: as we now know, the F87 M2 Competition features 302 kW (410 hp) and has BMW model code '2U71' (EURO-spec LHD), '2U72' (EURO-spec RHD) and '2U73' (US-spec). Well, now look what BMW M badge was apparently supposed to adorn the boot of that car: Leaked over here in March 2017 ('SOP' = Start Of Production | 'EOP' = End Of Production): Leaked over here in December 2017: Leaked over here in January 2018 (US-spec pre-production car built on Jan 23, 2018): Leaked over here in January 2018:

Extrapolating from that, I say within a year or so, we should get some sneak-peak photos of a fully-camo G87, rolling around, for a late 2022 production date (2018 - 2020).. #FingersCrossed 🤞🏼 |

I really wanted a CS, but other a badge and and more HP why would I dump 40-50 more K into one?. Carbon fiber roof...yawn, fancy seat stitching...yawn, fat steering wheel.... Same motor as M2C......I really wish it was priced a lot closer to a Comp and I might have ordered one. For 5 K more I can trick out mine and have enough extra money to buy another car. A stock M2/M2c is a platform you can add to. Am I missing anything??

Im on the fence right now looking at M2 vs M2C for a new weekend toy.
I have owned two S55 F80 and while the engine is a powerhouse it sounded so bad in the end I couldnt get over it and sold them. Second was a comp which I had hoped would fix the bad exhaust. Tried aftermarket too. Nothing fixed it. Anyway... has the M2C done anything to change the way it sounded in my F80? None to test drive close. I ask because of the comments above saying it sounds as good as the N55. If not its OG M2 for me. |

"As good as" is defined as equally good in this case. It looks as if you'll be hunting for a used M2. Not a bad way to save thousands of dollars.
