Do you have a BM3 licence yourself? If so I'd suggest trying the OTS map with the built in HPFP settings. That should be a very quick and easy way to diagnose where the issue is.

Or for those who are running same - why you chose the pump you did.
We max’ed out my Dinan turbo on E47 with the Dorch Stage 1 pump, so that would be plenty for the stock turbo.

If you’re planning to run E45-50 with a turbo larger than the Dinan, you’ll want a Stage 2 HPFP. My Dorch Stage 1 was beginning to dip (but not crash) on the first pull but leveled out on follow up pulls when we pushed boost >23psi. That ended up being OK for my setup bc the Dinan couldn’t handle that much boost anyways.
I been trying to find someone who was running a dorch stg1 hpfp and a emix with a upgraded turbo for awhile. I have a ps2 powered n55 and plan on running a e30-e50 mix and shoot for the 500whp range. I wasn't sure if I could get away with dorch stg1 hpfp but your comment answered my question. If you were seeing dips in pressure with the dinan turbo then I definitely will need the stg2. Thanks for the unintentional clarification for my setup.

Yup. I did some math & research before I bought mine and figured Stg 1 would be enough for ~440whp on E45-50 in cold weather.

I’m probably pushing a little above 430whp now and we finally have cold weather moving in, so I’ll double check for dips with some pulls and when I hit the dyno again.

I don’t have plans to go with more power (can’t keep the car cool enough on track in summer), so Stg 1 works for me.

Thanks again as you answered my question on 2 threads now. So now just to wait until black friday and hope for a few hundred off with a sale. Fingers crossed.

Hi guys

Would there be any interest in a Dorch stage 2 pump? I will be selling my car without the part stock so I can sell the part, it's been on the car for roughly 3500 willing to sell at a good price and ship worldwide!

Well, Dorch just had to have a Black Friday sale. My fiancée was struggling to figure out what to get me for Christmas. Needless to say, I have an amazing fiancée and a Dorch Stage 2 HPFP incoming!

That being said, I'm contemplating other mods to do this winter. Already have full bolt on, plus exhaust, intake, and a DV+.

As I plan on running the new BM3 Stage 2+ E30 map, I figured it would be a good idea to grab an ethonol sensor.

Question being, what should I order? I saw that fuelit has a kit with the sensor and Bluetooth module. Is that the one to get? Should I get the one with the 5v lead for analog output to support BM3 flex fuel when it comes out? Is anything else needed to install the HPFP and sensor?

Other things on my list are probably a 3.5 bar tmap sensor (future proofing PS2 turbo next year) and maybe some PR Coils (why not?)

Thoughts?

Snooping around today, I found yet another option for HPFP upgrade.

https://www.nostrumshop.com/product/bmw-n55-hpfp-kit/

That makes 2 HPFP manufacturers for our cars that are local to me.

Unsure how this one stacks up against XDI, Spool, or Dorch, but the price point is pretty good (on par with Dorch Stage 2).

I may have more information on this coming soon. Talking to them later today. Additionally may have a BNIB Dorch Stage 2 for sale when it gets here.

Stay Tuned... (see what I did there?)

How will you run the pump in regards to tuning?

ECUTek probably. but again, will have more info coming soon

EDIT: It was actually the conversation we had in my other thread that prompted this. I started digging into ECUTek and found this company (who is an ECUTek master tuner), who happened to be local to me. (XDI is also local, but they aren't really interested in working any further on the N55 platform)

Oh, good! Just make sure that you've vetted the EcuTek tuner because some tuners are better/care more than others.

Also, I don't think you're missing out on any of the XDI product offerings lol.

Indeed. I assume a "Master Tuner" is probably a bit better than you're run of the mill tuner. But obviously need to do some investigation first.

yeah, XDI was off the table as soon as I saw Dorch. The price is too high and for less flow than what others offer.

That call went well. I'll have some big news coming. I'll be staying on Bootmod3 for now. But stay tuned for further updates.

I've read through pretty much all 17 pages of this thread and the one question I have (which might be a dumb one and sorry if it is...) when it comes down to doing emissions/SMOG will the OEM HPFP parts have to be reinstalled to pass?

To get the stock tune to work, just turn on the Dorch option in Config and flash without relocking the DME. My state does an OBD scan and mine passed fine.

A 3.5bar TMAP and certain downpipes will not let the car pass, tho.

Forgive the stupid question but is it fuelling that limits the power of the N55 M2 more so than the turbo? in which case, is a HPFP upgrade a good first step upgrade ahead of potential Turbo upgrade?

Kinda both, but you can get more power out of the stock turbo with better fueling, you’ll just need a larger turbo to flow more and flatten the curve up top.
