I drove this in manual. The shifting is even numb than our car. Plus I remember it having a lower rev limiter. it's quick for sure. utility and interior are wonderful.

Had one of the first MKVs for American shores back in early 2006 for nearly 5 years; it came with a Fast that still sits on my desk to this day. One of my favorite cars ever. I raise an eyebrow at anyone who claims to be an enthusiast but haven't owned a GTI.

Where folk lose me is when they insist that none of the more practical or less expensive cars are enthusiast cars. A few of them are shining stars, and the GTI is certainly one of them. |

GTI's are excellent daily's and really fun and the interior is very nice as well. My friend bought his son a leftover 2019 and not only saved a ton of money but even got the 6/72 warranty (20's have 4/50). Pretty hard car to beat in its class.

Pros: Much faster acceleration ~100 more HP Better traction out of turns Cons: ~$10k more heavier Some say not as much fun to toss around (I'm sure due to weight) looks more generic |

My first sporty car was a MK4 VR6. I loved it and still miss it from time to time, even though I have owned cars far more capable. Although its untimely death left me with a funny story.
Technically, yes, as the GTI is built on the MQB platform that VW and Audi use in a lot of their vehicles. Specifically an AWD car with the Golf name plate is not being offered new from VW. However, the Golf Alltrack and the Golf R both have the Haldex AWD system and can be found used. Haldex is the opposite of X drive, as Haldex is FWD dominant and shifts to the rear wheels as needed. |

No Audi has a manual anymore in the US. Even in EU they are reduced to smaller engine/power figures.

My wife wouldn't look at the GTIs and got an M2C instead, but I've always been a fan of the GTIs and the Rs. My friend used to have an R and that thing always felt so damn fast. Excellent value for money and honestly a bit more unique than the M2C (at least around here).

The GTI has 228 hp while the Golf R has 288. That's 60 hp if my math is correct lol.

That new R really is hot though! If I didn't buy an M2, I would have definitely considered that for my daily driver. |

True. not a fan of touch screen as well. old school volume knob and memory preset buttons are appreciated.

Touch screen = Finger Prints. I hate it. I NEVER use the touch screen on my M2C but have to use it in the wife's car. I had the 8.4 UConnect in my old Grand Cherokee and would have to wipe it down with a microfiber cloth like every other day. It's annoying.
