Wondering what that base figure includes as far as options. One of the best things bmw did imho was making it so dead simple to configure the current m2 where you basically only picked if you wanted the exec package and dct. Perhaps the new m2 is more stripped down and options add a crazy amount of money. I don't think you could spec the current one to go over 60k msrp. I bet the new one would hit 70+ with all options

And I'm sure there are more Easter eggs to be discovered. I said it when I first got here, will say it again, this is a very exciting time to be shopping BMW. Marketing copy aside (of course they will call it the "M2 as it should have been", that line writes itself and it's just begging to be milked for all its worth), you guys are now getting the M2 that many of you wanted from the beginning.
Totally agree with you - I think we need to actually give BMW some props for everything they've added to the car - it's seriously a great little package to begin with, and they've added some nice touches.

I don't love the new wheels, but the 437s will look as good as ever. and I might pick up some used 666Ms as well....

Yep - this is in line with what a lot of folks are thinking - straight out of the Porsche playbook.

German Magazine Auto Bild suggest +15000€.
They are usually well informed.

I'm also in the minority here I like my M2 LCI more then the M2 Competition.

I bought a new M2 LCI instead on an used M4, and you're going to think I'm insane, because of the sound. To my ears, the S55 sounds...well...bad... It's definitely the better engine, no question about it, but it lacks...character

I'm also not very surprised that the base M2 Competition is just 1 or 2% more expensive. You're essentially getting the 'old' LCI with an S55 engine (+cooling, etc). All the other stuff are optional extras, right? (seats, wheels, brakes)

Also this:
M chief Frank van Meel: 'the car doesn't need adaptive dampers'.

Clearly mr. Frank hasn't driven an M2 before )

They don't even have the magazine reveal pictures like Evo. Evo appears to have the official information and a real article.

Should have had this engine in the M2 from the beginning IMH0...

Also, surprised its not the new S58 engine that is supposed to be released soon (high performance version of B58).

Standard features and options have been on this forum for months, via vin numbers.

You will be able configure the M2C as you see the M2 today, with standard wheels, seats, non-perforated leather, etc. With the 1% increase in msrp. For those worried about cost.

For those that want more performance and/or interior features, the new options will be available.

Apples to apples, the M2C is getting much smaller price increase than most thought.

Why? M2 gets the S55 just before they update the M3/M4 with the S58. Then everything is right with the world (from BMW’s perspective anyway). And M3/M4 owners can justify the higher price of entry. Rinse and repeat in a few years.

Huh. So base UK price increase is just under 2%. If the US base price increases by 2% that's only $1590 which is insane. Options for seats and brakes will likely cost more but if you can get an M2 comp with options including seats for like $62k, wow.

[QUOTE=Apples to apples, the M2C is getting much smaller price increase than most thought.[/QUOTE]

When I "guessed" the $10k increase, I was assuming all the bells and whistles that are now "options" would be included in the calculation. But to your point, a 1% increase over an identically equipped 2018LCI would be remarkable. And, the appeal of an M4 would take a major hit.

As for the resale of current M2's taking a hit, I'm not really that concerned. I didn't buy it to turn it. I bought it to drive - for many years. My brother-in-law has a 2011 997.2. One of the best 911's ever. He's unaffected by the latest and greatest that have come since. I'll follow suit.

Anyone disappointed that Active Dampers is not an option? You really don't feel much difference on 235, suspension wise, after changing setting; is it more pronounce on the M4?

UK cars have 20% VAT added on to the sticker price
2018 M2 (UK version) from UK build site
• Standard price £ 37,262.50
• Selected options £ 0.00
• VAT 20% £ 7,452.50
• On the Road Fee £ 1,980.00
• On the road cash price £ 46,695.00
£ 46,695.00-£ VAT 7,452.50=£ 39,242.5
£ 39,242.5= $55,893. US dollar

New 2019 M2 Competition £47,260
£47,260- £ 46,695.= £565 or $805 US dollars difference in price
2018 M2 (US model)
• TOTAL MSRP as Built $55,495
$55,495 +$805 difference in new M2 price (not scientific, but close enough)

My Grand Total US base price estimate:
$56,300. (based on EVO price reveal)

Also... Options not included in UK base price:

I can already hear the rocks in a blender sounds emanating from that fartbox canister that looks like a loaded diaper. I'm sure the rest of the car is aces.

Crossing my fingers that BMW M has the balls to release next year the athletic CSL sibling *all* enthusiasts want to see. Some German sources reported that it has been developed - all it takes is the green light from BMW management.
