REM is rear electronic module.
It's a control module sitting on the vehicle control bus and controls power and monitoring on all sorts of stuff at the rear of the car including all tail lights. |

I've ordered a new light from the dealers to replace the fault one.
Fingers crossed I don't this fault on a new one |

I see others have answered this question. I'm not sure on particulars, the dealership changed this out as part of their warranty algorithm. I sold the car on Monday, the problem never came back so as far as I'm concerned this was a permanent fix.
I'm not claiming this is necessarily the solution for everyone, but it was for me. |

Sorry to bump a old thread
But thought I’d share my point on it As someone who’s spent enough time with multiple F22s Pre and post LCI Pre lci replaced the board and as it was from bmw it did come with the extra ground. I am yet to wire that in … Post LCI drilled 4 holes along the bottom of the tailight Drained out no joke 200ml at least Let it dry and refitted Holes left open as where I have drilled them I can’t see water filling anything from there |

There wasn't any water at all in my LCI failed lights. I broke them open when i replaced with new darkline versions.
But that's not to say some do leak |

No, bimmerlink doesn't really do full factory coding, but rather it reads and changes existing coding. It would require E-Sys (no token or loaders, just plain E-Sys) or dealer ISTA etc. to do initial coding.

If you have a Windows laptop + ENET cable, I can code your REM remotely in minutes. I wouldn't suggest ISTA as the go-to for coding, especially if it decides it wants to flash update everything. It can get risky then.

I had the tail light error on my OG LCI and coded it out. Hopefully it works for you if it is a coding issue and not a mechanical one. Here is a video I did on the coding. If you like it give it a thumbs up and subscribe because I have heaps of M2 content coming.

The other coding advice on here is to disable the check feature, which of course is bad. Did you actually look at your turrn signal when the failure was happening? |

I have checked my turn signal when the hyper flash was happening. The taillight was still flashing. I coded it out, no more hyperflashing. It was the same coding I did to my M235i when I upgraded to LED bulbs.
It wasn't that long ago when cars didn't have any bulb check. |

Several people have contacted me saying that BMW will replace the light even though it is out of warranty. I have booked it in next week to see what they say after they take a minimum 1 hour $300AUD diagnostic fee. The stealership lives up to its name. Does anybody have the SIB from BMW with the repair and extended warranty details?

First of all what year is your vehicle and how far out of warranty is it ? You realise that the new Australian Consumer Law does cover items out of Warranty (depending on value and age ) . Cheers Bruce |

AUD to GBP is roughly double now so your dealer price is about right. On uk ebay now there's a brand new one, still wrapped for £120 |
