I agree, going by IAT is definitely over complicating it, and honestly probably hindering you from max performance. You also want the methanol for added octane which is a benefit observed independently of IAT.

I would just get a toggle switch like switlikbob has and turn it off on those days you don't think you'll need it.
Or I suppose run a tune with lower boost/less timing/less power in the winter. Which is probably the less deadly option.

No, run weaker tune in the summer. Cold winter air keeps detonation risk lower. Remember, heat is the enemy.

Dyno update!

Went on the rollers today and did two pulls back to back in 5th gear (1:1). Of the pulls the best pull was 529wHP / 542wTQ!

Video of the pulls can be seen below:

Here's the graph to follow:

Very nice. Looks like you have a little more rpm left in it too.

Congrats on the numbers!
I am really liking the route you took to extract more from the car.

Ive always preferred to wrench on a car and see the progress vs just tuning and forget.

This is basically a blueprint for people wanting actual gains and not killing the stock snail.

PS

...now you have the power, and the sound! haha

I swear I redlined it on the dyno, but apparently not!

Drive ability is great! I live in a city where freeways are basically non existent, the highest speed road we have within city limits is 50 mph and I honestly don't even feel like it's a "laggy" setup. Once you get used to just downshifting instead of punching it at 3000 RPM, the car honestly feels no different in terms of day to day driving aside from the power increase!

It's kind of a beast to handle, but it's nothing that can't be learned / controlled.

How is it in comfort mode? Do you think it'd be okay in winter with snow tires?

I don't winter drive my car, but for those who do I think it'd be perfectly fine! In comfort the car drives like OEM. I'd bet you wouldn't tell the difference in comfort between a bone stock car and my M2.

It really isn't until you start driving spiritedly do you notice that it's "modded".

Awesome numbers! Were you tuned (and dyno'd) with meth spraying? Are you using jb4 to control it? Sorry if I asked you this already.

I was tuned with the methanol spraying, and I dyno'd on the same setup I run on the street. JB4 controlling the port injection! All my tuning was done on the road however, no dyno tuning to get those numbers.

Hi buddy I've been following your build and love that you pushed the envelope on your car, great job.
I've read that you've been having high pressure fuel in issues. Watch this video as I think this will be the answer to all of your problems hope this helps.

Hi Endeav,
How many psi is the boost?
How many % is the methanol in the WMI?
Thanks

Running 22 PSI flat. I am also running 100% methanol in the WMI system - the JB4 port injection values for Fuel Bias are set at 30.

There are probably better options that are PnP and flow more fuel like the XDI 35 which will max out the PS2 with E30, or the XDI 65 which can support up to 700whp.

That's what I was thinking too and was gonna respond to it. But then I read someone say the A90 Supra pump flows 5000psi and is different from the BMW B58 pump... Though I haven't been able to confirm this or find part numbers for the Supra pump.

Comparably, xdi-35 is 2900psi and xdi-60 is 3500psi.

5,000 psi?! If that is the case then that would be insane, can our fuel rails and injectors even handle that kind of pressure?

I really doubt BMW would put that HPFP into the A90 and not their own B58.

I've had a look at the pump on a BMW B58.
And it does not look the same as the super.
So I believe that they use two different hpfp

The new Z4/140i in photographs. You can see it's different on a New supra. So the supra definitely uses a different fuel pump..

Interesting, do you have a part number? I want to see the pricing of this pump. It'll have to be significantly cheaper to justify it over the xdi since I doubt it flows more than the xdi variants which are all certified for e85.

Yes please do, it does seem very promising I had no idea the A90 hpfp could flow that much more. Only issue is it does require fabrication to make it work.

But if it's alot cheaper then maybe it is more promising, pricing wise, than current options if it does flow the 620 bhp that the Supra guys are saying it does.
