What do you think people did before there were automatics? I mean come on man, use your head. I mean seriously. Really take a moment and think about all the people all over the world that drove manual when that's all they had access to before you make your next post. Those old manual transmission cars didn't rev match, have hill hold, or automatically rev it up for you when you put it first and let off the clutch. And yes women drove them too, all over the world, before the modern manual transmission you have in your vehicle, and they didn't think it made them special or was exceptionally difficult to do.

Also I don't think you quite understood the meaning of "any idiot can.."
Enjoy your automatic. Way too defensive pal. Use your head.

Anyway, from what I was taught in my stats class, a sample size of 30 will give a 95% accuracy ... and the larger the sample, the greater the accuracy. And most of those markets have had sales in excess of 30, so they're probably reliable
Statistics don't apply here. This is the raw data. It would be different and confidence intervals would apply if you were trying to extrapolate to future sales or were looking at a small sample of a larger population, but that isn't the case here.
Not to hijack the thread buuut statistical significance always applies to comparison groups however we'd need proper/expensive software to figure it out.

Or a really big brain to do it manually...

As much as I love the manual tranny in this car, I think I would get the DCT if I lived in Europe and spent time on the autobahn, strada, etc....

Truth be told I'm considering trading in the dct for a MT when they do the last model year of the current m2 (2020?) Seems a shame to not have the last great inline 6 manual transmission coup BMW makes. Not sure if their next generation cars will have that many cylinders or the option to buy a MT on their smaller coup. However I should probably save my money and not get wrecked by California taxes again. I think deep down inside I'll always wonder about shoulda coulda woulda made a different choice, because that's just my personality. I do have plenty of fun with DCT though and was glad you have it when I left work at midnight last night (working Saturday), I was tired, and they closed three lanes on the 101 and traffic became stop and go. Then when the lanes opened up it was back to sport+ in sequential!

You know how it goes. Decisions are made and you live with them, and hopefully without any regrets. Speaking of cylinders, I feel like I should pick up a proper Cayman now before the landscape changes entirely.

Statistical significance applies to comparison groups that are chosen to be representative of a larger population. The numbers here are the total population. There is no larger group to extrapolate to and there is no possible sampling error since BMW sampled 100% of the population. Or are you suggesting that we don't really know how many were delivered to the USA, but it was 95% likely to have been between 3450 and 3550?

Way more than 5%, buddy. Every woman I know with an M2 has manual- except for me. I got a HEA and on the list for an '18 manual.

These statistics make one thing blatantly clear. Only North America cares about the manual. The rest of the world wants the DCT.

Seriously??? Taiwan and Hong Kong are not sovereign countries.
Taiwan might not be under communist control but Hong Kong is part of China and back from Britain since 1997... come on....these separatist shits are getting so old now.....

The 6MT take ratio in the US would be even higher than 52 percent if all the HEA buyers were able to pick their gearbox. Instead, most dealers chose DCT for them.
