So, I installed the M2 CS Racing Wing (pic heavy)
That was a challenge.
Big thanks to IND For your support and help. This wing comes with only the parts from BMW Motorsport, no directions, no torque specs, no drilling template - nada. At first we tried to work off the measurements IND sent us, but working off of the same examples we kept coming up with different measurements... First try: Using painters tape to mark where we thought the holes should go: Needless to say, we weren't too confident in these measurements. Then, my genius kicked in - Since the bolts go through the same general area (more on that later) that the OEM trunk bolts, we fashioned a "tool" to mark on the trunk where the pilot hole needed to go, and screwed this in from the bottom to create a dimple on the trunk: The actual hole locations were pretty close to my initial measurements - only about 1/8" off. But that is WAY too much. Then we busted out the 1 1/2" hole saw and a copious amount of WD40 to cut the main holes: Four big-ass holes in my poor trunk: After that, the trunk had to come off in order to drill out the threads from the bottom. I didn't anticipate this step, but luckily we had a 3/4" hole saw that was the exact right size to do the job. These threads had to go bye bye: This was significantly harder to cut through: After this point all hell broke loose. I had a hell of a time getting the wiring routed back through the trunk. Also, since the trunk is just the creme filling in this particular oreo, lining it back up with the body work was a pain in the ass (And it's still not right). Some more pictures of the underside of the trunk after mounting the wing: The end result is pretty sick. Photoshoot time... Last edited by 243Racing; 05-06-2021 at 12:36 PM.. |

Talk about measure twice, cut once!! The end result looks great. I wouldn’t have the guts to start cutting into my trunk like you did without a template. Nice to hear that IND folks were able and willing to help out. Trunks and hoods always are a challenge for me to get back on aligned perfectly but I’m sure you will get that done too.
It would be interesting to hear your comments on much of a change in driving dynamics the wing results in. |

Looks fantastic! that's definitely probably one of the only wings I would consider putting on my M2.
Please post more photos : ) !

Rear 3/4 and straight on from behind would be great if you don’t mind. One question on the install- does it actually use the trunk hinge mounting points or is there something else going on for mounting the wing to the trunk? Looks like your install came out great! |

Sounds like the way it's sandwiched in there allows it to properly be supported which is fantastic. I really appreciate the photos, but I am very interested to read any thoughts on the performance. I have been considering this item to go along with the CS Racing front lip I have on my car.

Thanks for the additional photos. I've seen this wing in person on a CSR and think it looks really cool from most angles and kinda strange from others (the side profile due to the mounting location).
I'm still really curious about the amount of aero it provides—it looks much more modern than the old 240iR wing, but also like it wouldn't sit in as clean of air. BMW, when testing, even used the older wing on the CSR, so they must've found this wing to be an improvement. Now that I've said my bit, let's talk about that exhaust—reminds me of what the Schirmer race car was running and looks pretty rowdy. |

Being one of the first to attempt to do this on an OEM trunk, I definitely wanted to get this info out for people who wanted to give it a shot. Hopefully this thread has some value !
