Like all other cars, it strongly depends on mileage as well. If you are going to put 100k miles on an M2 it's going to be hit pretty hard even if the model has a gentler depreciation curve.

If I get 100k from my M2, then I had one hell of a time 😁

How? A lot goes into calculating the payment. The rate, the time period of the loan, any negative equity rolled into the new payment, etc. etc.

My point was not to criticize having a lifetime payment. Sure if thats what works for someone, then have at it. My point was just that a lower payment means nothing. For example, the payment on an M2 could have been a 5 year loan at $800/month. Dealer says I'll do $750 a month for a brand new M3. Sounds good, except it is 10 year loan and you're paying a ton of interest.

I keep my cars forever it seems, I have drivers to give them to. I'll keep the M2 forever, and likely wont give it to a kid because the M2 will always be special. I may not get to 100k but I sure as hell will keep it forever

Yeah, I wouldn't give a new kid driver an M2. That's just too much temptation. When I was 16 my dad vetoed a few cars that I wanted to buy. At the time I was pissed. He may have saved my dumb ass.

Yea no chance my son gets an M2 when he's of driving age. If I had a M2 in my younger years, I would be dead. Thank goodness I had a POS Integra with 70k miles on it when I took ownership, with a litany of accident history by previous owner(s) hahaha

Yo, the Integra was no POS. I owned a Integra and the thing was the bomb, and the MT was awesome

Yeah we forget how much experience matters. My son was back from college once after I bought my M2 and he wanted to drive the M2. He was driving with me in the passenger seat, and he punched the gas on a 3 lane highway around a bend. The power took him by surprise and he almost rammed the car in front of him. It was a wtf moment for him, and he's a decent driver. Kids can get in trouble with that kind of power

All our cars have gotten handed down for the last many years. I wont be handing the M2 down to anyone, for selfish reasons. Mostly because this car is special to me, and will be taken care of, and no one will care more than me.

I bought an Integra GS-R for my daughter just before she graduated from college. I used it for 9 months while she was away and I really had a blast driving it, I also taught her how to drive a MT on that car.

There is no way in hell at this point that I am selling my M2C... it has 10k miles, 2 more years of warranty and runs like a champ. Even if it tanks to 40k in 3 years... thats 40k cash that I will have in my pocket if I decide to sell, or a very low mileage well running car...

In this market, you're not getting anything better under $80k... The G80 is not worth that to me.

Everything is so much more powerful, 90's performance can be had on just regular cars now

I'm teaching my Josh on everything, V8 4x4 crewcabs, full size cargo vans and Bimmer Coupes (backing up dump trailers too)

My state requires that he still needs a licensed driver with year(s) experience in the car

Most young drivers do mot know how to properly change a tire never mind know what cold summer tires do on sharp turns

M2 is his when he go's to school in a couple years, he will know the car inside/out by then

Edit: I'm always nervous/shaking when my sons driving but I know these early years of driving will pay off when he's older (experience)

@ASAP

We have em on all our vehicles because he drives any/everything

he rather drive the fun M2 but the Tundra has most of his miles/hours

driving a 5.5k lb 22' truck with a "learning to drive" magnet let's ME merge on the mass pike 🛣 so much easier for some reason?!?

I am not sure but I am sure it makes others more aware... I live in FL and there no stickers of this sort for students... hence I think it would be more of a warning to others to watch out around me.

‘20 and 3700 miles. Couldn’t justify owning it anymore given I WFH now full time too.
Plus it was practical but not practical enough to be a DD for me. It could do a trip to Costco or carry one of my dogs but it was limited vs the just using our suv.

If I ever do this again my next weekend car is going to be not practical aka Porsche

I have an X5 and M2C and I WFH 100% of the time.
So for me, M2C is used for short trips to run errands, grocery and things like that BUT I do plan to take it for a longer trip.

That's a super low mileage car. Was this at a dealership?

Yes, dealership.

My wife won't let me keep more than 1 fun car. If I can snag a GT3 allocation at some point in future, I will most likely get rid of the M2. The logic is, get out while the value is high vs waiting 1.5-3 years and getting rid of the car in future when values will be lower/normalized.

But I do love driving the M2, so its not as easy of a decision as I thought it would be lol

Lol! So true. I have a 7 year old that is itching to drive the M2 because it’s loud and fast. We are already hiding keys in our house.
