Is the m2 worth buying at its current market value

Hey guys just sold my e90 m3, thinking of trying an og m2, the comp is a little outside my budget. I saw most going for around 40-50k, is it worth the buy or should I hold off until prices dip down a bit ? If they do

An absolutely lovely little m car

Worth the buy while still reasonably fresh

Get the 2018 if you want the updated version

Here's mine…

It's the general consensus that the depreciation curve of used cars has been pushed right 12-24 months. That's just a guess, as who could've predicted that you could have sold a car for the same price you purchased it 2 years ago, allowing owners to drive their car for free while adding on x amount of miles.

It all depends on what you want example-wise. If you want a clean, low-miles car, you're going to pay top dollar. You can find an OG M2 in the 30s, but with concessions in condition/mileage.

If you haven't yet, recommend test driving one. IMO, it's solid bang for buck in performance compared to its competitors. I don't regret purchasing my '18 M2 2 months ago.

Just bought mine at current prices and like you, I was nervous about the prices. It's worth it, though. Such a blast to drive and I don't think it will depreciate much when everything else starts correcting in price. That's my .02

When you are on your deathbed you won't care that you may have spent a few thousand extra, you'll be thankful you got to drive one of the most fun M cars ever built

Considering that you got an inflated price for your M3, the M2 is definitely worth it. As other have said try to find an LCI 2018 M2.

Any product is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. Discuss.

Vroom offered $43250 on mine with about 45k miles. Don't know where you're going to find many in the 30s.

Great news for current owners, and not that surprising.

I'd have to think a 7/10 condition with 55k miles on a 2016/17 pre-LCI. Again, they can be found, but with concessions.

Interested to see what the next non-comp version sells for on CaB.

I am in the same boat. I am actually trading in my Tesla Model 3 (2018) for either a 2020 M2 Comp a hair over $60k with 19k on the odo or a 2018 M2 (CPO) for $52k with 10k on the odo. I know everyone says that the Comp is the better car, but I do not plan on tracking it and I like the price point a bit better.

the 2018 is in Black and the 2020 is in Hochenheim Silver. The 2018 is local while the 2020 is a 7 hour drive each way.

If you are indifferent on the color and both are optioned as you like I would go with the OG 2018!

I have owned both, and love my comp… but the price difference, similar experience, lower mileage, being local, I jump would jump LCI OG between the two. Cant go wrong, really

Ya I'd like to find one for low 40k preferably under 50k miles, I would get the lci 2018 but I gotta say I'm a fan of analog gauges like in pre lci lol

Try the DCT it holds Boost better between shifts and is definitely easier to Launch

I'm partial to pre LCI as I like the grey background analog tach/speedo (E46 M3 homage), older style dash flow and the full ring corona lights better.
Also the ///M logo instead of the ///M2 logo on the cluster, another homage to the Ms of yore.

Obviously both are great, just comes down to preferences.

Prices now is just how it is these days with everything, inflated. That being said, given how the entire car industry is going especially how BMW are designing these new releases, the OGM2 might keep it's value for much longer now.
