Anyone changed centre console to non-storage bin/lid type?

So between the squeaking/chirping noises, rubbing on and damaging the seat leather, and bumping my elbow on it while turning, I'm pretty keen to change the centre console to the version without the raised storage bin with sliding lid.
Can see why the CS came like this.

I've had a bit of a look on RealOEM to try and cross reference part numbers from different models of F20/F22 and found a part number but it seems to be manual only and can't tell whether trims will fit.
DCT seems to share console part numbers with ZF8 auto, manuals have different part numbers.
Has anyone actually done this on an M2C (or OG) using factory parts and matching all trims?

Were you thinking of using 51169270540 - which appears to retain the rear vents, or going for the low profile option provided by 51169230724?

Those numbers appear to be LHD though, so maybe you want 51169270559 based on location.

The existing trims look like they would fit on the taller item - but not the low profile option.

Probably need the low-profile one as it's not just the armrest/lid that rubs on the seats, but the sides of the top of the console bin as well.
the RealOEM diagram seems to show the low profile one (51169230724 - LHD) and then two others that look the same height but one for manual (51169270540 - LHD) and the other for auto/DCT (51169270558 - LHD)
Both of those last two numbers are for "Armrest front, retractable S4AEA=No"

My car is RHD and DCT and I haven't yet found an RHD and auto low-profile part number.
It's possible there may not be one in that combo other than the CS one.

Not concerned about losing the bin and armrest or even the USB port, but not sure about losing the rear vents. Not because anyone sits there, I treat the car like a 2-seater, but because the A/C struggles as-is with QLD 34C (93F) humid spring days, let alone the 40C+ (104F+) days seen every year.

Anyway, I have since found this thread so should continue there:

I also thought about changing consoles but in the end decided to go the route some others have gone by making a armrest delete. It was fairly straight forward and makes shifting better, not to mention not hitting elbows with my passenger. I tried to make one like the RKP E9X M3 GTS Alcantara Armrest Delete.

I think it worked out quite well and I can always put the original back in when I go to sell. Sounds like you probably have the comp, as I have the OG and don't have trouble with my seat hitting the center console. Included a few pics. I also routered the middle of the EVA foam so I can still put my phone in the bin and charge it if needed. Also some info on this page
