Many of his 17 posts have an argumentative sense about them, unintended or not.

Hard to tell as of yet.

Guys,

It's my cousin Ken again, whose only pleasures in life are insulting strangers on Internet forums and ball gags.

Ken, come on, man! We talked about this! I get the BMW forums. You stay off Bimmerpost and stop insulting everyone every time you post. Meanwhile, you get the BDSM auto-erotic-asphyxiation forums.

Thanks
To your defense: look here from 02:40 - 02:54. And indeed, on my new M2C, in broad daylight the red color of the redline is less discernible to see with the naked eye (even with the scroller at max brightness) (unlike the eye of a camera).

This is exactly right. It's marked, but barely visible in daylight. But the camera does pick it up.

I'm guessing that you were expecting the dash to look like this. Which, unfortunately for you, is not available in the M2C.

Oh man, not just OG M2 but the OG-iest of the OG pre-LCI M2 with the "can't see shit on a sunny day" grey on grey cluster.

Props.

Off-topic but I totally didn't realize that the OG M2 had the Start/Stop Ignition Button on the TOP LEFT side of the cluster as opposed to the M2C's LOWER RIGHT positioning.

Not gonna lie, the M3/4 cluster is just better.

I think this is a pic of right hand drive car, hence button placement

Right hand drive. Apart from the position of the start-stop button, see also the vents near the windscreen on the right.

I look forward to see what they do with it for the next generation M2. I'm a tech junky, so I'm hoping stuff like Night-Vision gets added in.
A digital cluster pretty much set the stage for such advancements, something an analogy-like cluster could never even dream of.

New 911 Gauge cluster is really great looking, I prefer their mix of digital + analogue, although a problem with it is, the steering wheel cuts off the end two gauages, meaning you can never see how much gas is left in the tank!
Ah yes - remember how awesome 'digital' dashboards were in the 1980's?

It looks awesome if you are in the passenger seat. It's a train wreck for the driver. What on earth were they thinking? Also tiny paddles that move with the wheel with no shift lever on the centre console which means you can't change gear when you turn a corner. Also thin squeaky seats. Fast car though. Way overpriced for what it is. They charge top tier money for them in Australia equivalent to much more prestigious brands like Aston Martin or McLaren. They used to be the same price as an M3 20 years ago. Albeit the M3 was a quicker car than the 911 in those days.

Love the M2C dash. Simple but effective. I'd just like an iDrive option to allow some useful gauges other than the stupid power meter things and I'd be completely happy.

They should look to Ferrari for inspiration

Personally have always loved the dashboard layout on Ferrari

Look at the big ballsy tachometer with big bold numerics on the F8

Any display for the driver has to be big and bold, BMW. Think of Iphone 11 Pro Max and not Iphone 5

I still can't see the redline on that Ferrari dash. Could be the angle of the photo

Yes, Italians are weird but splendid. My best estimate is 8042 rpm. But I may be slightly off with this.

I also enjoy the push to close hint when the doors are open.

And of course the masterful representation of a prancing horse in two scales. Just in case you forget what you are driving. This is important information.

The OBD error is probably hard coded. Or at least painted in yellow enamel. Legislated.

Sorry but it's extremely easy to see the red line. Maybe your car has some issue. I dont even have the brightness turned all the way up for my rev counter as it's too bright then. But seriously you or your car must have an issue as it's easy as hell to see

Illuminated Redline?

I know this was talked about somewhere in this forum, but I can't for the life of me find it....

Anyway... there were some people saying that the redline on their gauge cluster illuminated red.

Maybe this is a DCT thing? I have a 6MT and mine is entirely black. It just has a few more white lines after 7,000.

Is my cluster fucked up? Is this something I can enable in settings? Or were those people talking about something completely different? Or maybe they were smoking crack...

I asked for clarification on the thread but never got a response that I saw, and since been unable to find the thread... So maybe someone can clarify for me?
