Good evening ! I've ordered a BMW M2c at the BMW dealer.

Now I was looking through the pictures and see that the oil filter housing seems to have white marks. Anybody have the same problem or sullution ?

or any suggestions how to fix it ?

That’s what happens when you drive aluminum through winter or you clean the engine with the improper cleaner that is to caustic. Its just cosmetic.

This is caused by salt in the AIR + moisture, and is very common.

I have yet to find anything that can be sprayed on to remove it, unfortunately. You can pressure wash it with some success, but be careful.

I've asked Larry (Ammo NYC) about this and will report back with what he says.

HS is such a beautiful color, congrats on the M2C! I was contemplating between this and LBB before I purchased the latter. To answer your question, completely normal and like what David said, either salt on road or improper cleaner. I wiped the powder off mine with water and soap. It won't completely remove it but will look much better. And I believe someone in another said not to completely remove it, as it provides a protection layer for the aluminum underneath.

"That type of oxidation on metal typically requires a polish to remove. I would try Flitz Aluminum Polish or Multi-Purpose cleaner liquid. Should do the trick. You can coat that piece with Gelee Pro Wheel & Metal Coating to prevent oxidation like that in the future. "

mine is like that too, I think Mphatic is right, salt in the air.

I probably would try white vinegar and see but most likely won't work and might need a polish just as MPhatic said. I guess I don't care too much that I have lived with it since I got the car about 2 years ago or so

Try ACF-50 anti corrosion spray work very well on aluminium.

It also shows up on cars stored under a cover outside. My M2C lives inside, but I have other vehicles that are under weatherproof covers outside and they all start to show aluminum oxidation and a patina of surface rust on the steel fasteners that they never would get if they were stored inside.

Dryice blasting would also work to clean the oxidation.
