Tire pressure on track

***this needs to be moved section. apologies

Hello,

wanted to have a discussion with the ones taking your cars on track about your tire pressure, before and after.

I start my morning sessions at :
2.0 bars in front (cold)
2.1 bars at the rear (Cold)

Once warm i try to not run anything above 2.5 bars (outside temp is approx 15 C currently)

My last trackday i had to start with the front with 1.8 cold and it got to 2.6 warm, thats almost 1KG diff. between cold and warm tire, never had such a shift with other cars i take on track.

What are you guys running when on track?

Copied this from this forum. I forget the original poster. Has done me well

M2 tire pressures

good values from the german Sportauto test (translated by me, so pls. be patient):

"Instead of the recommended warm tire pressure of 2,2 bar for all wheels for Hockenheim the recommended tire pressure for the Nordschleife is 2,5 bar warm for front tires and 2,0 bar warm for rear tires"

For the non Europeans

:
- Hockenheim : GP track with perfect surfac
- Nordschleife : well, you should now that

- 2,0 bar ~ 29 psi
- 2,2 bar ~ 32 psi
- 2,5 bar ~ 36 psi

I would think 36 front 34 rear would be ideal. Just enough diff front to rear to take the edge off of understeer and create a bit of rotation into turns.

32psi warm?? So do you typically run the tires at a lower pressure compared to street use?

No - he means 32 psi cold since the tires pick up 6-10 psi on the track.

So with your recommended PSI 36 front and 34 rear, these would be when the tires are hot after several laps right?

I assume these are for tires with softer sidewall construction like the Cup2's? I run slightly lower with RE71R's on my M2.

With Cup 2 I start off at about 30 PSI and generally get to 36-37 by the end of the first session which seems to be the sweet spot for my car with those tires. I am in AZ so track temps tend to be higher than most areas
