Are my tires too stretched? Did I mess this up?
So I needed to buy a new tire the other day after a flat that couldn't be patched and I thought there was no sense in buying a new Conti I didn't want when they were 15k miles on them and instead opted just get new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires.
When asked about the size I just figured look up the OEM size, should be fine right? Normally I research more for a large purchase but it wasn't a planned purchase because of the unexpected flat. So I got the 245 front and 265 back. Since I don't know shit about tires because this is my first fun car I didn't consider going 255/275 or wider. Now I am looking at them and they seem oddly angled and stretch. What say you? Is this going to wear out too fast? Blow out when I hit a pot hole? Last edited by akkando; 02-25-2018 at 09:48 PM.. |

Yeah, that looks very similar to my MPSS.
I intend to move up to 255/275 when I need to replace them though because I do also find them a little more stretched looking than I like (rear looking more stretched than front). |

Pretty sure the front wheels are 19x9, not 9.5".

Looks better than the contis with their stupid rounded sidewall profile.

Agreed. I went with 275 width PS4S tires on the rear recently and they look way better than the OEM Contis. Look way beefier and actually protect the wheel. I know it is only slightly larger but it looks like it fills up the wheel arch way more too.

To the OP, you're fine if you simply replaced the stock size.

They look like rubber bands by comparison. the 4Ss in the rears look awesome, and I have noticed better traction with them as well. The hook up, especially from a stop, is effected with much less traction control interference.

I mean my Conti rears burned up in 10k miles so I didn't have to wait that long. Only one AutoX and no track days, 90% commuting miles.
