Yes, I didn't quite believe the hype at first. When I decided to make the 788M wheels my winter set, I figured I would get the 763M wheels as a summer set. Also I switched tires from Michelin Super Sports to Cup 2 Connects.

I don't know about steering feel but the 763 is quite a bit lighter than the 788 so some may notice a difference, its probably 5/6 pounds per corner.

After driving my buddies 992 GT3. I caught the P car fever. I stopped by DeMan racing to discuss the GT4's as that is his specialty. He took me for a ride in a 6spd 4.5L with close ratio gears and 4.5 PDK. All I can say is Holy $hit!!!
Now I really have the bug... I found a perfect 981 GT4 CCB, 7k miles, flawless condition and was almost going to trade my car plus a few dollars. I figured I better drive a stock one first. While I couldn't find a 981, I found a 7k mile 718 GT4 6spd to try. I will say the P car quality is a step above, the chassis precision and balance can't be argued. The power is nice (nowhere near the 4.0 in the GT3), but left me underwhelmed. The long first two gears did not help and the exhaust note was again, nice. It did not whale as I expected. The guys at DeMan assured me that the 981 GT4 (3.8L) would definitely disappoint based on my 718 test drive. In short, the M2cs is more fun on the street for far less money. The GT3 is a different story!

It's truly one of the most confidence inspiring cars I've driven, but like you said, the 1-2 shift makes it not as exciting as it should be when you're driving normally. That's why I always thought my ideal Porsche would be a 981 Boxster Spyder because at least you'd have the top down experience. I'm quite comfortable living in the used BMW world. While they don't feel as special as a Porsche, I think there's way more than enough pros to stick with them (especially if mostly driven on the street).

Hers - OG LCI M2 - is her daily. His - Modded 981 GT4 - is the weekend/track toy. Both are great cars. For me the GT4 is more track focused and allows for more setup options as it has a fully adjustable suspension. As for the power, the C&D Lightning Lap times on VIR's (my home track) Grand Course, the M2CS is only .3 seconds faster than the 718 GT4. You can't go wrong with either car. It mainly comes down to whether you prefer a front or mid-engined platform. |

Thoughts on the Spyder RS as a second car, with the OG M2 as a daily?
Reading through the posts and positive feedback on the GT4, I would assume the answer to be a resounding yes. |

I concur. Any Cayman/Boxster + any BMW M car stable you can throw together is fantastic. I've had a few different combinations over the years, and they all complement one another perfectly. Current garage includes a 6MT 718 GT4 and an OG M2 6MT. GT4 feels a certain a way and does things the M2 can't and vice versa. Best of both worlds.
