It's hard to get it!
It's not that hard. Just went to a dealer in Canada right now and they can get me one in 3 months time... and if this isn't true everywhere at the moment then I'm 100% sure in months time, it will be just as available as the outgoing M2

Not to be a traitor but the Audi RS3 is a great winter car.

“The M2 is shorter and narrower than the M4, but it’s only a token amount lighter. While this seems like a deficiency on paper, the reality is it hardly slows the Comp’s responses. Before you can even think of its mass as a negative, it’s casting a spell on your senses.

The racier M2 quickly proves that what stiffens up the front axle and the engine department is muscle, not fat. That taking off like a fighter plane is due to the trick active M differential, not just launch control. And that the huge amounts of speed carried through corners is the merit of the recalibrated chassis, not solely the wider 245/35 R19 front boots”

“...sometimes it’s about being so boldly unique in a category of sterilised clones that speaks for itself and oozes appeal. I’ve said it before and I shall say it again, this is a car like nothing else on the market today.

The most fundamental issue with this car is its name – it shouldn’t be badged the BMW M2 Competition but the BMW M2 No Competition…take a bow BMW M.”

“The changes BMW’s M division has brought to the M2 in the creation of the new Competition model helps to elevate it to an altogether higher level than before. The new engine not only provides it with added performance, it also injects it with added character as well, while the changes to the chassis have brought greater sharpness and response to what was already a highly capable car. ”

“About engine noise in the M2 Competition compared to the N55 engine. And there is no way to sugarcoat this, nor I would like to do that – simply put, I prefer the [previous] N55 engine over the S55, a raspier sound worthy of a sportscar. The M2 Competition is certainly quieter”

“while the design of the new wheels is quite attractive, its weight is not. The [new] wheels are now slightly over 10 percent heavier , on average. For comparison sakes, the [previous] 788M weighs 11.2 kg (24.7 lbs) and 11.9 kg (26.24 lbs) front and rear, respectively.”

Long live the original N55 M2 Classic. Save the cosmetic changes (mirrors and less comfortable seats), I’m pleased that I jumped into the 2018 LCI at ED sticker with PCD.

Good luck to everyone purchasing the new M2C.

I like his comment

“True,” admits Mr M, Frank van Meel, “but we have a sports exhaust in the making which won't disappoint.”

Georg Kacher is a very competent auto journalist and I take his opinions with high regards.

Had to laugh at the only negatives Top Gear came up with. It's also terrible at carrying ladders I'd expect

"What's not to like here? You get significantly more power in a pert package we already fell for - for just two grand more. The BMW M2 Comp makes a lot of sense on paper and in reality. It's a sure-fire future classic (unless you want to hold on for the two-seat M2 GTS in the works, of course)."

Haha. He is a true character and legend.
I used to read his stuff in motor magazines as a teenager. That was a long time ago!

If you have to ask, get the m 4
I'm deciding on a winter car/daily driver and it's between the M2C or a used M4... I believe M2C lends itself better for winter driving
It's all about the tires. I have driven my 1M through 20 inch blizzards with no issues. I used either Nokian Hakkapeliittas or Michelin X-ice 3s. Drive them in the winter that's what they're made for!!

Of course, it is not fair to compare a spanking new car with a used one. The list of used cars to buy from a value standpoint is a long one.
Well, except that the M4 is a better performance per value and same engine!
I'm not so sure about that....I think ///M is still licking their wounds on the F8x....Not only have they been crucified on the S55 engine and exhaust note but also the M3/4 not being true to their name. They brought out the Comp package and that helped but didn't help the image of ///M. Now we have the CS and the GTS. The jury is still out on if the CS is that much better then the ZCP package. I think the M3/4 F8x generation is just a broken generation.

Remember the M2 was never supposed to happen. Given the success and positive reviews of the 2 series and the 235 they finally made us one after customer demand. Remember 3 years ago when the M2 came out? Wild success and glowing press reviews. Something I think not only woke BMW up but ///M up. Hell we just saw late last week BMW is still committed to manuals as long as the take rate stays strong...given the opportunity I think ///M finally listened and made the M2 what it should have been. (I blame the bean counters for neutering the M2 the first go around)

Too many of the bean counters and execs had their hand in the pot with the F8x.....the M2 competition is finally ///M saying they learned and they are listening and they still have it in them to make cars WE WANT.
What Sports Sedan would you buy over an F80?
Better yet, with a 6MT?
ATSV? I owned an F80 for 2 years. It wasn't great.

It’s to do with a conspiracy theory. Long story.

But yes, he’s a classic Swede. I have a soft spot for Swedes as I’ve spent a lot of time with them over the years. I loved that video. Him early apexing, sweating, freaking himself out and wondering if the orange car has better suspension. No. The orange car is driven by a freak. His reactions are entertaining. Watching it felt like being on a track day behind one of those rare mega talented drivers that make you realise just how crap you really are

That guy driving the orange one was a very good driver YES Already shocked the others on the "warmup lap"

I'm not denying the performance aspects of the M3/4 because they are there but you also can't deny the fact the F8x has been very controversial. I think everyone agrees the performance is mostly there, but they dropped the ball and the M2c is M saying to the world "they can still make a car"
Sorry I was on my phone and could not see that.

Once you put the M3 through the paces at the Performance Center (it is awesome on track) you will not regret your decision. My first time at Thermal, I was lamenting how big the M3 was before the trip, but by the end of the first day, I was amazed at what a marvelous tossable machine I had that seats 5 and looks the business. I was wrong about the car it was not the E46 M3 of yesteryear, it is the E39 M5 successor IMO, and thankfully BMW still offers it in 6MT. Enjoy the car!

ATS-V is slower compared to the F80. Also, explain why the F80 wasn't great for 2 years?

That's good to hear! My wife gave me the ultimatum that if I wanted a "sports car" it had to be 4 doors! Didn't have much of a choice so the M3 was it! :P

I mean if anything I would have just showed up with the M2c lol! Better to ask forgiveness then permission!

I'm excited though. And I'll have time to decide what I want todo. And having a back to back with the M2 in the family is nice too!

Sounded horrible, not great build quality on the interior, and numb steering were my biggest complaints.
