What's missing is people refusing to believe the truth. BMW would not have put those weights out there unless they were true, because they know every tester is going to pound (get it?) them for it.
No, I am implying the EU weight is too low, and BMW makes typos all the time. Aka 437M tire size on the M2C.

No wonder the big brakes are standard. This car needs them.

Correct on all the points except for the weight distribution. BMWUSA states that M2 LCI has 51.4/48.6 weight distribution so the difference is half a percent (M2C -> 51.9/48.1).

CF hood and fenders are almost a must now. Hope they don't rape us on those. I will not however do the CF roof, F that noise.

You have to compare same-country weights. EU weights are different in things such as fluid levels, which add up fast at 6 or 7 lbs. per gallon.

Believe or not, I would pay extra not to have these stupid features/accessories. I would gladly pay extra $5k (or even more on top of $60K) to bring the weight down to EU spec.

Says the current M2 is 51.9 / 48.1, not sure where you got the other numbers from.

EDIT: I see those are the DCT weight distribution numbers...

Hey, Colin Chapman, how much lightness can you add? More importantly, how much lightness can your bank account stand?

If weight is the primary concern of buyers, maybe it's time to steer away from the M2Chubby. Otherwise, and for other reasons, it's a strong contender in the marketplace.

That's for the DCT. They mixed up the DCT and 6MT WD numbers just like the weight numbers. Obviously DCT is more front heavy than 6MT.

DCT -> 51.9/48.1
6MT -> 51.4/48.6

You may want to recheck your weight distribution math, and let's not kid ourselves about the 0-60 times.. That is a meaningless metric and anyone that doesn't think the M2C will beat an older vintage M2 in the straights is coo-coo. And FWIW the "only real way" to compare prices is to factor in the year of inflation or at least a typical price increase that BMW applies to each of it's cars every year regardless of whether there are any changes to the vehicle. Bias much?

The total weight of the M2C, however, is a disappointment.

Maybe some of that comes from the water to air top mount intercooler. You have that large heat exchanger under the hood, plus a front mount radiator filled with fluid. Plus the brakes/disks will be heavier as well.

I bet they will lol. So are you going to wait till November to order your car or get the parts later when they are available? (Assuming you haven't found a used Porsche that you like yet )

Hoping we get some damn reviews before SOP. The problem here is there's no way for us to test drive it, so all we can do I rely on reviews for now. If reviews are intentionally on an ///Mbargo until the cars start to arrive I will defer my order. I'm not making a major investment without know what I'm getting.

You are comparing DCT WD to 6MT WD. Here's how they look like:

M2C
-----------------
DCT -> 52.4/47.6
6MT -> 51.9/48.1

M2 LCI
-----------------
DCT -> 51.9/48.1
6MT -> 51.4/48.6

Sorry, I was watching Indy qualifying and trying to fix the post while you were posting this. The numbers were scrambled, so I just deleted it since it didn’t make sense.

Original message:
If the rear percentage of weight of the M2C is 47.6 and the M2 LCI is 48.6, that’s a one percent difference, right?

And my point on the pricing was only to compare real out-of-pocket dollars at similar points in time related to transactions on the applicable models. Nobody goes into a dealer to discuss inflation figures year-to-year to negotiate buying a car.

How much difference can 150 pounds really make?

When I push my M2 around the track I do some laps alone and some with a passenger and the added weight from the passenger has never shown to throw off the driving behavior enough for me to notice.

Whats the weight difference between a current M2 and an M3ZCP? I drove those back to back on a full track and the difference was noticeable. But not sure it was the weight itself or the wheelbase difference.

s55 cooling system
Dual turbos
New exhaust system has dual exhaust with dual cats
Unnecessary safety crap
This.
Makes sense that S55 is heavier. That air-to-water IC can't be light, another turbo, all the ducting for extra turbo, dual path exhaust and fancy nannies for people who can't be bothered to pay attention while driving.

On the plus side, I'm going to change the exhaust anyway, so there's quite a bit of potential weight loss there.
Now almost certainly skipping the sunroof.
All the more reason to go 6MT.
Gonna try to get CF boot and bonnet, but I'll skip fenders and roof.

I really wish we could skip the nannies. I've never needed lane departure and auto braking. Don't see why I would now. I f'ing pay attention when I drive.

J/K. I still think it will be a great car but will (like many others) just stick with my LCI (no matter how good the reviews are and no matter how many reviewers say it's an improvement over the original) - this plus the fact that the wife would literally kill me - selling my LCI only to to get an identical (to my wife they are completely identical) newer M2C. Just not worth the pain.

What will be worth the "pain" will be putting on the carbon fiber bits esp the hood!!!

Make no mistake if I had not bought my LCI I would buy the slightly obese M2C in a heartbeat. It will be a great car too!!
