30% of current UK orders for the M2 is manual - compared to just 10% for the M4.

Personally I opted for DCT as I wanted a Duel Clutch in my life, although I nearly opted for the manual - what did others go for?

If you`ve never ever have a DCT or PDK for that matter, you`ll certainly like it.

But anyone who has had any experience with a Porsche PDK and the way that gearbox is working, the sheer eagerness, the quicksilver reaction (Pedal action=gear reaction) will be a little bit disappointed IMHO.

Because of my own experience mentioned above, I opted for the M2 6MT.

I've never had a DCT hence the choice. I've heard great things about the PDK though. I imagine it's like most things in life once you go up a level it's hard to go back down..

Had DSG in an Audi years ago, but it'll be light years ahead of that box.

I ordered DCT but agonized over the decision. I then regretted it and asked the dealer to change it to the 6 spd but the computer system will not let them even though it was in 112 status. They could change the color though. Whatever, I'll just get the revised 2018 model in 6 spd manual if I can't stand the old man auto version.

Both are great choices IMHO.

I will be comparing the dual clutch gearbox with my old Nissan GT-R. I will admit the Nissan had a fantastic gearbox.

I'm part of the 70% in the UK, DCT it is for me, can't wait.

If/when i get one it'll be a DCT without a doubt. I don't consider manuals to be added enjoyment and they can be absolute dogs in traffic. All personal pref though. The ZF 8 shift times are pretty much on par with PDK, they just lack the rawer mechanical feel and are at a point where you've almost got too many gears to shift through. Never tried a BMW DCT though, so dunno how they stack up.

If UK is 30/70, US will probably be 40/60 (or 50/50, wishful thinking). This is good news for enthusiasts. The manual option will survive into the next generation!

While that sounds all nice and romantic, I'd call you a fool for giving up a 6 speed transmission that you want for a girl that might leave you next year.

An even NICER guy would TEACH his girl to drive a manual ....

If she's truly a keeper she should be HAPPY to learn a new skill so *you* can get the car the way YOU want rather than you sacrificing for her??


Take the 3 thousand dollars I just saved you, and buy an old pickup truck or an old Honda Accord for $1000 and let her learn on that and then sell it.

Hell the damn thing has * fucking auto rev match* , and * hill hold * it shouldn't take more than a day for her to learn on an M2.... Sheesh

I thought about the manual as I miss it and it's a lot of fun on the street but after having a DCT in my e92 m3, it's too good to pass up as fun as the manual is. I've never driven manual with auto rev match and hill stop feature. It's basically an auto now lol, as long as any driver knows how to control the friction point it's a walk in the park.

It's a tough decision, but if I'm able to get a M2 this year I'm leaning toward the DCT.
