1M or M2C
So I recently lost this BAT auction due to my page not refreshing. As you can see I was the next highest bidder. I figured this car would be just as quick as the M2C, like 14k less, probably hold its value and also be more raw. With that said should I keep my order for an M2C or seek another 1m? What would you do?

m2c. you'll be happier in the 1M for about a week and then after that, the old car will not appeal in the long run. but what do I know, I don't own either. that's just what I tell myself given the hypothetical scenario if I were in the hunt.
I thought for the longest time when I bought my e46 m3 I would never want a newer model bmw, but after about 2 months, I was over the hype and got an x3 m40i instead. sold it and don't regret it. I don't miss the e46 at all. sad but not really. but it did help me scratch that itch for good. |

I知 Not interested in losing the M2C warranty by modding so it would be even I think. I壇 Dinan the M2C through my dealership but I haven稚 seen anything from them yet. Not even an exhaust. I知 looking for a good hpde/weekend car. I値l most likely probably only own for one year. |

The M2C will be my first BMW so you can say I'm either bringing an unbiased opinion, or an uninformed one...
That being said, by my way of thinking, it depends on whether you want to get in and really DRIVE the thing and use it to its capabilities (or yours...) without worrying about racking up too many miles, getting a bit of road rash, or preserving something that's maybe crossing over into the collectible category. If that's the case, M2C all the way. This is the category I'm, mostly, in today. Alternately, maybe you see holding onto a car, for its collectible, cool factor...something a bit more rare, in awesome shape, that you want to drive every so often but will put a lot of effort into preserving its value? That 1M, to my uninformed eyes, looks pretty sweet. I've been in both camps, but I'm working with a bunch of guys now that have cars in the slightly more collectible category: a Lotus, a couple older Porsches... Never, ever see rain, never driven hard, and it feels like handcuffs to me from this side of the fence. They have cars they like, but they are dying for something they can just get in and hammer when they want. I guess I'm rambling a bit, but I'm wanting a driver. Something I can modify because I want to, and I don't care so much if it hurts the value or messes with its resale. I'll deal with that later if I want something different My $0.02 |

If the M2C was available when I bought my 1M, I would go M2C. I just didn't like the M3/4 size and the M2 seemed slightly inferior in concept to the 1M. Of course, back then a 1M was $53,000 with 15k miles. The M2C would have been a lot more.

well a molested 1m you might not feel bad about driving, but if you find a stock one that's appreciating you might feel like you can't drive it. They're going to make enough M2C's that it can be replaced if needed, not a collector car, you can drive it more worry free.

What would you be using the car for? Do you have an '08 m3 still? If so, you'd have to know that the interior would be basically a lesser version of the same. I had a '13 135i, and honestly the day I bought it (last month of production for that car) I felt it was behind the times. So if you were buying the car as a daily, or at least planning on spending significant time behind the wheel each year, that alone would make me lean towards the M2C. However I've never been a used car guy, so your impressions may be quite a bit different.
