"M2 CSR": 3,022 lbs S55 M2

A M2 with a S55 that weighs in a tick over 3,000lbs. Just shows what can be done. Even 1/4 of what is done to this car, would reduce significant weight. You want S55 power and cooling, plus lightweight parts for only $4.4k...not happening. But BMW will now sell you oem parts that will accomplish what your want. Put your money where your mouth is...complainers.

The BMW M2 CSR tips the scale at 1,371 kg (3,022 lbs), thanks to a plethora of lightweight components.

I will gladly pay up to $15K-$20K for the CF hood, roof, and the fenders (port installed) but BMW is telling me I have to wait till November. In other words, I can't really put my money where my mouth is even though I want to... till November. Waiting till November is only going to make getting rid of my M4 lease more difficult so if I purchase these parts after taking the delivery, the labor of paint &install will probably exceed the cost of the parts. It's a tough decision at least for me.

I wonder what the actual build cost is, probably a good bit of markup in the build to get to 200k.

Only 911 I would be interested is 911 GTS and it costs around $135K. That's not the point tho. I have no problem paying M4 money ($80-85K) for an M2 that weighs around 3400-3450lbs. If I wanted a 2-seater, I would have gotten a Vette GrandSport long time ago and P-cars wouldn't have even crossed my mind. I need the trunk space, seats etc. So yes once again, I would pay $80K-85K for an M2 and have zero regrets about it if BMW offered all those CF parts at the launch.

Just have your dealer put on list for allocation with delivery in November, when parts are available. Really only a couple months post initial deliveries.

Okay, quit crying about it and wait until you’re able to order it with all the parts you want. Like it for what it is, otherwise go find yourself another car.

That's what I will try to do and figure other things out in terms of getting rid of my current lease. It would be easier for me to find someone to assume my lease now than finding someone in November, in which I'll have 6mos left on my lease. In the worst case, I can wait till my lease is up in June 2019 but I'm just being a little impatient and don't wanna wait that long

I don't understand why you get so butthurt whenever this weight issue is brought up. I'll buy this car more likely than any other option but I'm not going to kiss BMW's ass for not giving me enough or reasonable options. I do not expect them to give me S55 and do all the weight reduction for $4K-5K. However, I expect them to let me choose which stupid options I do not want in my car or make the parts that I'm interested available at the launch. Yes, I'll try to wait and slightly change my plans according to their schedule or like you said, I can also try to find another car but why are we not allowed to voice our opinion about what we think they are doing wrong? I'm probably one of the few people here who has actively defending BMW in terms the weight increase due to S55 change because I think it's a significant improvement over N55. But the weight increase was first 120lbs then it went up to 150lbs for US spec cars and US spec cars are supposedly 180+lbs heavier than their EU counterparts. I don't wanna get into the "you won't feel it" discussion but I just want to know why there is such a huge difference. This car wasn't developed yesterday, it's been around for over a year or more. So I also think these CF parts should been available from the day 1 of M2C production. I don't see why early adopters have to wait till November or get screwed. The bottom line is they could have done a better job. You can call this "stupid", "crying" or whatever you want but as I said I'll continue to praise them for the improvements they bring to the table but also won't hesitate to criticize when they are lacking.
