New M2 Owner & Build Thread @ AMELIA.M2F87

Hello Everyone,

Firstly, apologies if I've posted in the wrong section as I am fairly new to this forum.

I've just received my 2018 BMW M2 after unintentional hiccups with my order at the dealer. Managed to steal the vehicle off the trailer before it made its way to the local dealership.

Oddly, I've also named the vehicle Amelia and if you're interested in having a peek at her build for those own instagram you can look up the vehicle on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/amelia.f87m2/ and have a peek at the build plans.

Most of the vehicle's goodies have landed but am just pending on breaking in and registering the vehicle.

Some of the goodies
  • BMW M Performance Steering Wheel with shift light integration
  • BMW M Performance LCI Shifter Upgrade
  • VF Engineering HEX Cable (Stage 2 Plus)
  • Wagner Intercooler
  • Vorsteiner Wheels - VFF 103 (19x9 & 19x11)
  • Fi Exhaust Valvetronic System
  • Good Ridge Steel Braided Lines
  • RKP Composite Aerokit - arrives 20May18
  • Red M Tow Hook Strap - arrives 20May2018
  • Morph Auto Design GT Wing - arrives 20May18

Thanks for the love.

Do you guys have an M2 as well? If so, how long have you had it for and how are you enjoying it?

I've had her for almost couple of days and won't let the vehicle out of my sight given the waiting period of 6 months. This local vehicle registration process is taking forever.

Beeds Ceramic Paint Protection

Since the vehicle technical inspection and registration takes anywhere between 7 to 10 days, Amelia has gone for its mandatory paint correction and ceramic coating service for the ultimate protection at our local detailing company, The Gloss Factory.

I can honestly appreciate the level of work any detailer puts in, especially when comprehensive THREE step paint correction is involved to remove any paint defects. Don't get me wrong, the paint job from factory was pretty good compared to some cars I've seen with orange peel and paint scuffs.

Looking forward to receive the vehicle back in 4 days time. If anyone doesn't mind spend a lil to protect your paint, you should give BEEDS HD and/or ELX ago, available through your local installers.

Hope you don't mind the sharing of pics.

Thanks Izzy, I sure do enjoy but learning of the M2 Competition releases kinda gutted me a tad but I still love my vehicle.

Owh man, I'm so in love with the MT in the M2 its so much more crispier than the last two MTs I've driven, being the 2007 Audi RS4 (B7) and 2012 Audi R8 V10.

In your opinion do you reckon it's worthwhile to upgrade the stock shifter to a short-shifter kit.

Congrats, mine is also AW with MT. I install the BSM clutch stopper and it significantly improved the pedals travel time.
I got Akra. Titanium Exhaust and I think it is the best sounding M2 now

Hello Ken,

Not from Kuala Lumpur buddy... yes I've just come out of from owning an R8 V10 for 4 years and got bored because it wasn't a MT, so fun factor was limited and modding was limited unless I go for a turbo kit that cost an arm an a leg.

I agree with you the M2 feels great as a daily driver. How many kms / miles have you clocked in? I've only put on 83kms to date.

Thanks for the heads up on the BSM clutch stopper and I'll check it out. How long have you had your M2 and when did you install the clutch stopper on your vehicle. What does it do?

Yea, I wanted the Akra system but I couldn't be asked on their wait time. I think the Fi exhaust that I'll be bolting on next week will be decent. Wish me luck

Hoping to install the charge pipes and Intercooler too at the same time. Did you change your intake system?

Congrats on the new ride. Car looks good!

Looks like you live in Brunei? I might cross over there this year when I visit Malayasia for the first time.

Congrats @amelia.f87m2! I too have the same but purely stock. Sport+ is the best mode to enjoy it.

I installed the BMS clutch stop ($10 on ebay) within the first 100 km. No tools required, just a bend torso LOL

Not hijacking at all buddy... I think it's great to learn off everyone's experiences, keeping in mind that we all have different expectations.

I'm actually interested to know of the differences. So, I'm a dealer for GIAC locally in Brunei and I heard they maybe releasing a file soon or there's probably one for the US market already (not sure).

Has anyone here pursued the route of installing an intake system for the M2? I'm on the fence with following through with an Eventuri or Armaspeed. Somehow, I feel the stock box is pretty good as it's optimized for the vehicle and perhaps a drop in dry filter from BMC , K&N or AFE might be sufficient.

Grateful if anyone can share their thought on if your think it's worthwhile to pursue an intake for application in a humid and hot climate.

Hi grinchmas!

The car feels more powerful. The increase in power is felt above all at high revolutions. It is also really soft, everything flows smoothly.
The sound with the stock exhaust also improves, sounds excellent.

I have to add that in some less rigorous tests, I have not noticed much improvement in the difference in acceleration against other cars. But in any case the car feels better, more sporty.

Regards

Patience isn't one of my virtues especially when it concerns proper breaking in.

She's enjoying the pampered life at home in her air conditioned garage while patience is hanging by a thread to bolt on performance her goodies:
-Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler
-VR Speed Factory Charge pipe
-Pedal Box 3s from DTE Systems GmbH
-FI Exhaust Valvetronic Turbo Back System
-VF Engineering Stage 2 Plus Engine Mgt
-VFF103s by Vorsteiner
-Carbon GTS wing from Morph Auto Design

Thanks... it's the least I could do to rep the community of enthusiasts. I'm feel better now that the rightful owner who designed the original decal gave his blessings.

I couldn't save my life to design anything.
