Build your own M2 - BMW Switzerland

Hey,

maybe someone of you know it, but if not, you can build now your own BMW M2 on the homepage of BMW Switzerland.

There you can see the different colors on the M2.

My favourite color ist mineral grey, but i think long beach blue is very sexy too.

On the pictures you see mineral grey. very nice!

Greetings from germany

Nice find!
Another pricing source that parallels a US base price around 54k. Was really hoping for 51.

Are you doing a direct conversion of the prices?

No, just comparing base prices of other vehicles and seeing where they are priced in the US. I know they all have different equipment etc etc but it will at least give an idea.

What was the base price for the 1 M? the M2 base price will be 1-2k more
What was the base price of the 1 M? the M2 should be 1-2k above.

We Swiss always pay premium - just compare the M4 pricing, I don't think you should take conclusions from this.

Nice!

I agree. No way to compare pricing. The car pricing in the US is going to be priced where BMW of North America decides to put it.

Not quite tracking the math here. If an M3 in Switzerland is $92486 and in the US it's $62300 the ratio is .67. Apply that to the Swiss $71,751 for the M2 and you get a US MSRP of $48,332.

What am I missing?

What's really interesting is that in order to get the M Driver's Package, you HAVE to order Long Beach Blue and M-DCT. Hope it doesn't come to the US that way.

Not a requirement for other regions.
It can also be retrofitted at the dealer anyway.

That there is no direct conversion of currency to pretty much any other market with car prices.

Ok here is my loose reasoning. Obviously no prices translate directly between markets because all markets have different currencies, taxes, standard vehicle equipment etc etc.

BMW Switzerland:
535i Automatic- 70,500 CHF
X4 35i XDrive- 68,800CHF
X5 35i - 71,400CHF
M2 Manual: 69,500CHF

BMW USA:
535i Automatic: $55,850
X4 35i XDrive: $49,700
X5 35i: $53,900
M2 Manual: probably north of $51k

OK but this doesn't even attempt to take into account competition of each vehicle within market segments, which is really important. BMW won't price the car at a loss, but how much of a profit margin they will take can depend on where they think the price will be competitive in a given market within each country. If they don't sell enough because competition was fierce, then it wouldn't have been worth the few extra dollars they made on each sale. So, they have to anticipate that as well.

Using non sports car models as a reference won't be accurate, because BMW not only prices the m2 against other BMW models, but other competitors as well. It would also make more sense to compare it to the m235is Swedish base price rather than non sports models.

MikeRR - The Swiss dealers have been offering what they call a "Eurobonus" on the M235i and other cars - reducing the price by 10-15% because of the recent strengthening of the Swiss Franc against the Euro. I hear this is still the case so maybe the M2 will also be discounted....
