I'm flat out hooked on the track, this is my 2nd track day weekend ever.
Just got home from Barber motorsports park with the new pads and added camber. Definitely going to have to buy track wheels and tires as I'm Gonna destroy these PS4S. Had an instructor the whole weekend, got lucky as he was amazing to work with and a bmw guy as well at a PCA event. Ran 2:01 best first session and then got down to a 1:48 before blowing the charge pipe off a STOCK car on back straight. The PFC08 pads stop! I brake late with them for sure. This car continues to impress me and my friends in crazier cars

My experience is that in the hands of a fast driver the difference between M2C DCT (with stock suspension but with camber plates) and 991.2 GT3 manual is 3.5-3.7 seconds per 1:20 seconds lap. Same tires, which are Cup2. |

Yet, if the better driver sits even in a manual OG M2, chasing down GT3s is not a problem. Case and point. This happens a lot on the Ring. Driver mod is the bigger factor than car is what I’m trying to say. Last edited by 5.M0NSTER; 10-05-2020 at 12:10 PM.. |

After all summer of making no progress on the Ring, only to make major headway once ambient temps got cool, I think I need to target cooler months, like April and early May for my track days next year. So I think I will try to hit Spa and the 'Ring again next April. Perhaps we could meet at Spa.

They do fill quick for weekend events, so you have to look ahead and note when registration opens. |

Agreed. Fast cars deserve fast drivers. It's a travesty when the car is there, but the driver is sub-car. That's why I want to keep getting better as a driver. So one day, if I'm fortunate enough to drive something like that green Senna, I will won't hold the car back.

First track day was a private day at NCM on a weekday, 3 groups and under 30 cars total. hit 120+ on the table top there on a stock car. I do like ncm but love barber also, doing a barber bike track day next weekend

Is it advisable to trade my silver bbk set for blue set for a trade + cash for the sole purpose of running 18" on track?
18" has better, cheaper tire selection for me + its lighter. 19" only have michelin ps4s and cup2 available where I live. I really don't want to spring for $4k+ ($5k+ with shipping, tax, customs, currency exchange) for aftermarket 6 piston fronts. My total cost for running 19 incl. track wheels, track tires, brake lines, brake fluids, track pads: $3700 and running costs (pads + tires) are $2000. Total weight of silver set + ec7 wheels + tires: 140.9kg Total cost for switching to blue brakes incl. all of the previous: $4338, minus whatever value I get for trading silver bbk and the running costs are $1640. Total weight of blue brake set + ec7r wheels + tires: 122.4kg My track is high speed and a lot of the heavy braking needs to be performed from ~240 km/h down to 100 km/h in 110 meters or so, if that matters. Costs wise trading for blue brakes makes sense for me, weight wise I don't know if I'll feel the difference, I've never shaved off any unsprung weight on my cars before and I don't know how the blues will perform. Should I do it? |

I think so. Blue brakes are quite capable. I’d invest in brake lines to improve feel, and obviously high temp fluid and pads. If your track does not give the brakes much time to cool off between big brake zones, cooling is a must like Magnus said.

I run the stock blues( now black), air ducts, with PFC08 and Motul 660. My home track is Road Atlanta and I haul from 150mph to 60 in 300 feet plus many other hard brake turns...no fade and great stopping power, plus lots of 18inch options.

Aftermarket brake kits might get you a stiffer pedal. With the one piston calipers that the older M-cars came with from factory this was often the case. The blue four piston caliper is a big step forward so I'm not sure what you can expect from an upgrade now though.

Thanks for the feedback, I was going to do brake cooling mods at some point eventually anyway. Seems like blue brakes + cooling will be perfect.
Have a few months off from the car now, so I have some time to mull over the decision of aftermarket fronts or blue brakes. Recently found out they don't even stock 295/30-19 in any performance/semi-slick here except PS4S, so 19" for track is completely not an option now. |
