Rub always depends on the specific car, tire, size, model, drop, offset, spacing, etc. I should make a key lol

Vehicle:
Drop?
Drop amount?
Wheel specs including offset:
Front tire make, model, and size:
Rear tire make, model, and size:
Current front spacer:
Current rear spacer:
Your question:

You've got a Comp, are you lowered? I believe, if you're looking at PS4S in the 255/35 & 275/35 sizes, your limit without rubbing is 7.5mm spacers.

Yes stock wheels and PS4S is what I'm looking at. Im stock ride height. might keep the spacers on anyway and report back. If anything drop the front to 10mm and rear to 7.5mm but before that I'll go ahead and mount the 255 and 275 combo on the 12 front and 10 rear spacers and update for anyone interested would be nice for someone who've had this set up to chime in.

I think with stock wheels and at stock height you can do pretty much whatever you want.

Sorry for bringing back up this thread.

I am thinking of going for 255/35 both front and rear. I find some benefits in terms of:

- Tire choice availability, at least here in Spain. Also cheaper for the same tire model as compared to other sizes.

- Square setup, so ability to rotate tires

- Narrower rear width, which should slightly help with snow traction

What do you think? Any cons I am not considering? With winter tires I won't go hard/fast on the road, so I am not very concerned about corner balance and behaviour (as long as it is still decent).

Thank you all in advance and happy new year!

Unfortunately the wheels for M2 are also staggered so you still won't be able to cross rotate the tyres as the offset for the rears are different. Can always switch them left to right if they are not directional tyres but you can do that with the staggered setup also.

I use 255/35/19 & 275/35/19 for both sets of my wheels and find them perfect It's also closer to the actual speedo speed (measured on my racebox telemetry via GPS speed)

I mean, what you save in price of each individual tire you will quickly lose in terms of ordering another set of wheels. Or did you plan on putting 255 square on your factory wheels?

If you want to rotate and still use factory wheels, remounting and balancing is not free either..

Thank you both for your input! I'm planning on using the stock wheels (437m).

The thing with the 275 wide tires for the rear is that they appear too wide to me for snow (ab)use. I'm planning to bring the M2 to the Pyrenees mountains, here in the north of Spain, and I need every bit of traction I can get from the car. I even thought of putting some 245s front and rear, but I feared that the rears would have been too stretched in the 10" wide wheels. Believe it or not, these mountains get some decent amounts of snow. Yesterday there was a 60cm/23inch snowfall where I plan to go.

The first problem I find is that in Spain there are very limited options in terms of "dedicated snow tires". Instead, what we usually have available are "performance oriented" snow tires...

Maybe I bought the wrong car for this!! haha. No, definitely not... I know I may struggle a little bit if things get too serious one day, but the other 363 the M2 feels just like the perfect car to me...

Winter "performance" tires don't really work well in snow, like the continental ts 830p. Summer Performance tires, like michelin pilot super sports or similar, I say, good luck

Maybe snow chains is the correct purchase for you.

I just got a set of frozen gold 763s and need to decide on tires. I've read through this thread more than once, along with a few others, and can't decide if I should pull the trigger on moving up a size.

I am lowered on Dinan suspension and want to run a 10mm spacer. Will 255/35 rub up front (on a M2C)?

Anyone running size up, lowered, 10mm spacer, on OEM spec wheels?

TIA

Well... I'm currently running 8.5/19 et20 with 255/35 Cup2 on the front. The outer edges rub the arch liner at 3/4 turn of lock. But, I'm running MPS at 595mm ride height.

Edit: Fitted MPSS 245/35 to the wheels above and the clear the arch liners - just.

So, on narrower wheels at ET20, the stock tire sizes just clear the arch liners at a ride height of 595mm. At ET19 (which you would get with 763M running 10mm spacers) and lowered, you might have problems.

HTH

Otherwise, the 255/50R20 should be fine.
What kind of terrible/weird post/advice is this?

Every tire is different, so a 255 isn't necessarily 10mm wider than a 245, and in fact, can be narrower. The Cup2 (240) specifically is one of these tires.

Also, wider tires do NOT give you better traction in snow and ice, it's just the opposite.

And who said anything about 50R20?

So, I am in need of newtires. Rears are almost gone but fronts still have about 12k-15k left in them. I never just get rears on staggered set ups as the handling is always compromised. Might just be me but its no bueno.

That being said I might jump up a size 255 and 275 PS4S. I have them on now in the stock size. Car came with Cup2’s. Loved them! Tire Rack has the 4s in BMW star spec and they are slightly less than standard 4S’s. The Mercedes spec is even less expensive.

One thing I’m not a fan of is the soft sidewall of the 4S. Cup2’s were way stiffer. Are there any other choices out there? Price is not that big of an issue, company car…

What are your thoughts? Go with the Star BMW 4S tires, Mercedes 4S, PSS, other brand??

Thanks in advance.

Recently I’ve been noticing some rub/vibration when im turning at slower speeds. This becomes more apparently when im going down hill and turning/taking a free exit/entrance.

The noise/vibration feels like it’s rubbing against something or even coil bind. I know the fender liner issue is common but is it enough to be vibrating/rattling the entire front end of the car?

When I blast through the same exit/entrance zero noise.

Car was purchased used
M2c
Stock suspension
763m wheels
255/275/35/19 conti extreme sport

Well I can't get conti sportcontact 7 in NZ because there aren't any.

My ps4s are shot, I'm flush at the markers.

So if I try 255/275.. at that size you can get BMW* ones albeit they weren't developed for the M2?
Or stick to normal ps4s/vanilla.

I'm MHD stage 2+ (stage 2).
Lowered only a tiny bit over stock, like an inch or so.
Chur!

Turns out there are NO 245/35 ps4s in the country but a garage can get 255/275 in for me so I have to go with that for now.

Local BMW have said ps4s not compatible with the car.i think they think I'm talking about pleural PS4's. I've tried explaining it's a separate tyre and now they've come back asking if I want MPSS.
FML lol I give up

People are so damn stupid. I would hand them the Michelin MPN / product code for each tire. This is the only way I was able to get a local shop to get me a 265 Pilot Alpin last year.

your first mistake was going to bmw for tires. Why not a real tire shop

I thought they couldn't fuck it up. Alas.

The tyres on are on and so so quiet. Then again the tyres that came off were down to cords and some alignment parameters were off by 7(!) Degrees!
The car is like a luxury mobile now. Plush ride. I'm at 34 psi but might try 35.

10% improvement in economy!

Turn in feel is slightly number but not much. Traction is excellent and everything silky smooth.

Bigger tyres look awesome on the car.
