Thought I'd add my experience to the thread here, having just completed the install about 15 minutes ago. First off, the quality of the paint from iND is on par with OEM. Not a speck of dust or hint of a blemish in the paint. For those concerned about a non OEM finish, don't be. These things are excellent.
OK, a few tips for the first timers: 1) There's 7 clips that hold each grille surround on. 3 across the top, 2 across the bottom, and 2 on each side. I fought the damn thing for 20 minutes before I discovered the 2 on either side (at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions). Doh. 2) Start with the 3 clips along the top. i learned quickly that as you get those 3 unclipped and move on to the ones on the side, the recently unclipped ones along the top like to pop back into place. Super annoying. To combat this I unlatched them and then wedged bits of popsicle sticks into the clip mechanism to keep the latch pressed down. See photo below. 3) From the perspective of the USA driver's side grille: With the top 3 clips unlatched, move on to the side clip, closest to the headlight (3 o'clock position). Then work your way around unlatching the bottom right (5 o'clock position) clip, the bottom left (7 o'clock position) and finally the inboard side clip at the 9 o'clock position. 4) When buttoning everything up, pay attention to the bumper cover. it's pretty flexible and may not pop back into the exact OEM position. Mine was a little off when I closed the hood. I loosened up the 6 torx bolts just enough to allow me to adjust the bumper cover to hood gap, with the hood closed. Got it lined up perfect then opened the hood and torqued down the 6 torx fasteners. Install the rubber stip. Done. As others have said, the first one will take you 30 minutes and the 2nd one will take you 30 seconds. LOL. |

I tried calling regarding 51712336815 / 51712336816 and they wanted $215 for the set. But that's a full gloss black grill set for the 2 series. |

I bought full M235 grills gloss black from ECS Tuning for $123 shipped. Removed the stock grills a d swapped out gloss black rings. Pretty simple to do as long you take your time.
I can now sell the stock M235 grills on eBay or something. |

Only downside was the set of screws/bolts needed to secure the splitter to the lip was missing. Not sure if it wasn't shipped or if it went missing during customs inspections. But the body shop used their own screws and got it fitted anyway. Thumbs up |

The press release for the 2-series says "The kidney grille emphasizes the broader stance of the front facia of the new BMW 2 Series."
BMW blog also has this on the 2-series World Premier; "It also gets new, larger Kidney Grilles, which give it a wider and more aggressive look." But like others have said, nothing mentioned in the M2 release. |

Gloss Black vs. Black Chrome
Has anyone installed the black chrome front grille and side markers rather than the gloss black? I'm wondering how it looks and whether the black chrome would be less prone to swirls.

Just installed these tonight. Used the method where you dont have to take off the top trim or anything. Took about 30 minutes and as others have alluded to, once you get the first one off it's easy because you can just reach behind for the other one. Biggest piece of advice I can give is understand that you need to push on the small tab, NOT pull on the larger piece. See the pics in the post two above mine? When you stick your finger through the slats and are trying to release each tab, make sure you're pushing on that inner piece and not just trying to lift the whole bracket. Spent a few minutes pushing and pulling before I got that part!
