BMW M: The M2 CS weight is the same as the M2 Competition
https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/11/23/b...2-competition/

Straight from the horse's mouth.
Quote:
M CEO Markus Flasch :

They weigh about the same, all things considered, unless you equip the M2 CS with the carbon ceramic brakes which save about 25 kilograms (55 lbs),” Flasch told us.

“The reason for being the same weight as the M2 Competition, is the additional things we put in.”
Womp, womp.

Just being objective, the car isn't a great value. It never was going to be - the halo model of anything is never a good value.

It's a bit annoying that the M2C cost only $5k more than the outgoing M2 LCI and had a completely new engine, seats, brakes, and mirrors... while this costs almost $25k more than the M2C and it really does not offer a lot of additional performance. The laptime differences can easily be explained by the Cup 2 tires and tune. It basically becomes an ultimate accessory package with optional CCB. If you look at the dyno graphs, the tune just restores the top end they took away, so it's probably not even that much faster on the street. I am unsure about the adaptive suspension - I didn't think it was clearly better when I've driven the F82. Might be nice for daily driving in comfort.

Again, great car, I love the interior tweaks and carbon pieces, but at $83k this is a car for M2 fans only.

I hope for $91k it can live up to 1//M expectation.
For that price, I can find a clean 2017 Carrera S manual with PASM or Cayman GT4.

The 1 M Coupe is an absolute unicorn.

This is just a money grab.

It is definitely a money grab, but if the increased profit margin helps them make future M2 / M2Cs at competitive prices, then I say go ahead.

The 1 m coupe started out in the mid 40's.

This car is damn near double that.

The prices are off the chain.

That's crazy. Hopefully the "2017" means someone else will get the #1 slot.

I think all the haters will eventually cave because it is the flagship BMW M car. I remember the F8x haters when it was first announced and revealed and how funny it was when they all took delivery a couple of years later. People will get over the pig nose.

I think the car will be great, but probably over priced , but the market will speak
had F80 regular
had F80 Comp
and currently F80 CS .. I can tell you the CS was a huge improvement compared to the base and significant improvement compared to Com
how much money is that worth ?? each person has to make their own mind
the biggest challenge initially is dealers will not allow test drives so people can't have a feel for the car and then decide

Were you an early adopters, or did you get one of the crazy good deals? I'm happy for those that get the great deals. Things depreciate to the same level over time so if your a long term holder of vehicles you've got nothing to worry about. Yes, if you wait, you might get a much better deal. However, if you wait, you may not get the chance.

People aren't gonna pay $80,000+ for a car that looks like crap especially when the C8 and many other great cars exist. I'll either keep my F82, grab an M2 or go used Porsche. The dig on the initial F8xs had nothing to do with looks.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming. M2cs looks sick and I'm glad that they are making a few REAL BMWs. The CS cars are what the M2/3/4s should have been from the get go.

I think a very valid point that someone made is the original price of the 1M... granted that was back in 2011... but there are people that bought theirs for under $48k and with euro delivery it was under that... but i think more so than pricing; what made the M3/M4 Cs fail was that it simply was not special enough... to an onlooker its an M3 comp with a tune and some visual differences... so far I don't see a car different enough from an M2 comp nor a vehicle worthy of its price. This car will sell solely on its rarity.

$20k more than what I paid for my 2020 Comp and it's really not much faster? Sorry, but I'll keep my Comp. It doesn't seem like much more than some flashier parts/interior—not enough to warrant that much of an increase.

I bought a 1M and did RlEuro Del. Best car my $47k ever bought. Currently have it and a 2017 M2 Per Ed. Planning on getting a M2CS to replace my F82 M4 which lease ends in Dec. I want to see first hand how good a M2 can get and if it great I'll sell a few others. If not, I'll unload it.

Production and Delivery estimates seem unchanged but likely sooner from what they were saying.
Anyone calling the reliability of this into question? OP dropped this here and has disappeared since.
