Drove both, on track. Unless you do autocross events or frequent smaller, low speed tracks, it's not in the same class as the M4. Period. It's WAY down in power. Test an M4 around town at a stoplight or highway you will get embarrassed.

So besides being the newest kid in the BMW family I just don't see what the hype is about. If the M2 was priced in the low 40's I think it would be a better option. But at the current price point I'd take a stripper M4 over the M2 every time.
A @45k m2 with a b58 running a mild factory tune to @350ish WHP would have been awesome.

Considering the amount of work it takes to push a e9x to its limits and the body roll and giganticness of the F10 I dont blame you.

But neither of our examples makes very much business sense.

THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS SIR!!!!!

But seriously....spot on. Over-analyzing a harmless and fun video.

I don't think anyone in here is taking offense to the M2 coming in last.

I think the problem stems from the "I once test drove the M2 and it sucked and they are sitting on lots and no one is buying them and they are overpriced" crew who tend to post on these type of posts.

A car praised by journalists as the last 'real M'. The same journalists who talk about how bloated the M4 is.

That seems to ruffle feathers around here.

I don't know. I just can't see it being faster than the M4 CS or GTS. And it seems like some of the expectations people have are putting it right up there.

BMW has been very good about keeping their M cars separated.

I could be wrong. But even if I wasn't a $700 tune would open the S55 right up.
People are just wanting the M4 contents in a smaller M2 sized package and considering the larger size of the M4 it's not hard to blame them.

Some of the comments out there...

I thought the M2 (the only one without a dct) was surprisingly close to the others. I was frankly surprised the V8s were killed by the M4.

As a guy who has had both M4 and M6, I would say the M6 driver in this video obviously doesn't know how to launch the M6... M6 is faster than entire current M cars anytime any where including from dig 0-60 or 1/4 mile or rolling....

The last few years of the 135i, 135is and 335is had DCT as an option

Loved my 335is. Tuned N54 with DCT plus IS specific exhaust was special

I'm not at all surprised the M2 got spanked. I am however surprised that the M5&6 didn't beat the M4 in the quarter mile from a dig. Hot lap around a track would likely be a different story - I'd put my money on the M4. But straight line? C'mon.

DCT... And yes I am sure.

From that point forward BMW started being chintzy.

He rounded up his drinking buddies, handed out car keys and quickly did a one take.

Only thing that surprised me about the video.

The M2 should be the slowest in a straight line. Though DCT would have helped it a little and his 0-60 in 5.2 seconds is amongst the slowest Ive seen.
5.2 is slow. New Audi TT RS is around 3.6 seconds

The M2 is super close to the TTRS.

IF the M2 was AWD it would not be even slightly behind.

Millennials.
I don't even know what that means...I take it that was suppose to be funny...haha?

I've seen your type a dozen or so times in this forum:

1) Doesn't own any of the cars discussed.
2) Supposedly "about" to buy something (240/M2/M3), ultimately commits to nothing but seems to have an opinion about everything.
3) Has a friend/family member getting or has whatever car is in discussion.
4) Has a roommate/fianc/other outside influence that is the excuse for the constant flip flopping as to why they haven't made a purchase.

There's a name for what you are:
A Window Shopper.

You're not buying anything or fooling anyone. You just like to be part of the conversation. My prediction is BMW will announce the M2 CS and all of a sudden you'll be getting one of those, lol.

It's okay, you won't be the first or the last window shopper here.

Just be sure to let us all know when you decide to not buy anything because you're buying a house, starting a family or "fill in the blank" excuse. Give us closure please, hahaha.

Enjoy the forum while you can.

TTRS will do 0-100 in 8.5 seconds. M2 won't have a chance in a straight line.
