Nice to see some realistic figures for once. Too many people are quick to put "at the wheels" against any old number.

An ECU tune that will void your car warranty for a little 19 WHP gain is not a good idea compared to a simple Fabspeed sport cat (200 cell) dowpipe that will give a 21WHP gain without impacting the car warranty. I guess that for a reliable small HP gain the Fabspeed sport cat downpipe is the way to go. But if you don't care about the car warranty I guess that you can do both for a bigger HP gain.

About the best you could expect. It's the same engine/turbo with some beefed up parts as an M235i. It's close to maxed out from the factory in the M2. You'll need to run a higher octane map, add a downpipe and/or upgrade the turbo to show bigger gains.
The M2 in stock form is about perfectly balanced with it's suspension, brakes, tires and amount of power. Adding much more power is kinda pointless for the purpose of this car. It already laps most tracks about equal to the more powerful M3. Everyone can choose to do what they want with their car, but if I bought on M2 instead of my M235i I would leave it be in stock form particularly from a power standpoint.

So everything else on the n55 platform tuned in comparison will jump out at you and speak volumes and people say well the M235i or 435i make more on a flash tune.... does it really? Yeah because it's a detuned ecu. The m2 turbo is maxed it will not do anything much more. They're lucky they got 23hp. Bigger turbo if you want more power period. You can't come in and say well my 997tt this and that gained me 100hp lol ok it's 2 turbos, it's an ancient platform that never had any type of dme encryption and one can change files and maps at will. People gotta start getting over the freebee crap like the n54 days where you spend $48.92 cents and gain 150rwhp

Yep...if you want a big increase, you need a big turbo. BMW all but maxed out the N55 in the M2 application.

Not all power increase is gained solely from the turbo, it's just this is the simplest way to gain bhp when spare capacity exists. Yes, the turbo is maxed out but let's look at timing and fuel injection optimization, this is another area where increase can be had.
Ac schnitzer module id said to release 420bhp, I'm not saying evolve or anyone else couldn't achieve the same with a bit more time, but AC have, and I m sure they wouldn't lie to the tune of 20-25bhp more when compared against the evolve stage 1. Furthermore, evolve in my eyes are one of the most honest, knowledgeable and reliable tuners around. Last edited by kiysersosae; 10-27-2016 at 05:10 PM.. |

It may be possible to get close to same gains from just lowering the TMAP pressure reading. If the turbo is already running beyond its efficiency, heat will start building up with much more than a couple PSI anyway. The turbo is so maxed out as it is, we've have seen problems at peak power with the stock system running 91oct! My guess is any margin BMW put in there for altitude compensation would be as much as you'd want out of the stock setup.

True, but lots of noise (irrelevant comments) get posted so instead of reading every single post in a thread it is sometimes better to just ask and the OP/vendor will answer with factual information
