TopGear's list of 50 best M cars
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/top...ver-bmw-m-cars
TopGear placed the M2CS at #34, and the M2C at #10! And on a side note, they didn't even place the OG M2 at all, yet they ranked the M135i. What do you think? Are they in the ballpark with everyone's expectations or are they off their rockers?

The CS forum will have a cry and of course the CS is a better car but its too expensive, the comp was a bargain for what you got. The OG is excellent and was priced even better and I would place it on that list 100%.

Fun article. Of course, all very subjective, but I still agree with the top 10 finish for the M2 Comp. I agree with MooMoo in that from a value perspective the Comp is a better play. Would I take a CS over my C? You bet!
The only thing I struggle with in Top Gear’s assessment is they put an automatic at #1 and that ain’t right in my book. I enjoyed the read and thanks for bringing it to our attention! |

Man this is harsh (but hilarious). Would love to see what this cat would have to say about the G87!

Yet somehow the CS was the first BMW to ever win Evo car of the year, arguably the most prestigious award in motoring journalism.
I've owned CS, Comp and driven the OG. They are all fantastic. F87 was BMW at its best. Some dubious decisions and narrative, I suspect this was an intern's homework. |

The OG/C/CS M2's are essentially the same cars and should have been collectively placed in the same slot. That is, of course, if you consider the OG an M car at all. Apparently it's not BMW who decides if their own car is an M, but keyboard Nazi's. |

Let’s be honest that the M2 is a much better car then the M135i. Some pretty funny rankings.

This is a ridiculous list, and of course subjective. the M2c/cs are very similar in almost every way (I have owned both). Value aside, objectively the cs is better. The list is supposed to be the best M cars created and sold by BMW. Heck, they couldn't even get the correct M2 picture right, its a OG M2...
The E90/92 are also the same car dynamically/objectively, yet separated by 6 places. Why is the 1M coupe there and not the OG M2? The OG M2 is a crazy fun car, far better and more fun that just about all of the early M cars. The fact that the M135i made the list and is ahead of the F80/82 M3/4 is laughable. Forget the fact that the M135i is not an "M" car (as classified by BMW), the M140i is better. This is just an example of the flawed logic. More inconsistent logic was applied the the F80 M3cs. The F80/82 M3/4 is like 22 spots behind the M3cs. The M3cs is similar in "M" treatment as the M2cs. The "bad" was "It cost £26k more than a standard M3 when new. That’s a big jump". If value moved the M2cs down the list than so should have the M3cs. Nostalgia seems to be a big part of this list. Don't get me wrong, most of the cars on this list are awesome, however unless you assembled them all together there is no way to rank them appropriately. I guess my opinion is also subjective. I have driven many on this list and have owned a few as well. I wonder how many those who are ranking these cars have actually owned or driven them? For context my M resume is as follows: 2 E46 M3's E92 M3 (ESS 625) M2c M2cs Non M 135i 335i

US spec M3 is a great car and def should be on whatever M car ranking list you want to make. Isn't every car on that list a Euro spec? |

Eh, these lists pop up every few years whenever there's a milestone for BMW. They're fun read but I honestly couldn't care less. There are so many great cars, and everyone's opinion of them is going to be different. No one buys cars based purely on articles anyway (at least they shouldn't...)

I suppose I'm biased, but definitely shocked OG M2 is not on there. It was heralded as the E46 successor when released , and is 90 whatever percent of the M2C. Not to mention the value you got for the money.
To each their own I suppose, but I'd take it over most of the cars on that list.
