Have the CCB`s.
1 They look just great 2 They feel even better 3 Less unsprung weight 4 Lack of brake dust I do not track the car, au contrair what many people think, the CCB/ Porsche PCCB are better for street use than track, given the replacement costs, risk on damage while track driving is bigger. For street use, the discs will last for >200 K Km, the pads over 150K km driving normally to sometimes aggressively. I used to own a 981 cayman GTS on PCCB, no problems what so ever, my coming GT4 will also have the PCCB on them. Just great brakes for street use (would I track the cars I would not have ordered them) |

The only reason NOT to get the CCB is if you plan to regularly track the car (but maybe you can substitute cast iron rotors/pads, as can be done on Porsches?).
Other than that, it's an exclusive car and should have these binders for all the benefits they offer (and hopefully the tech doesn't chip a rotor...) |

I believe I have decided to go with steel brakes. I support all of those getting CCB. I think it will be worth it. Any time someone is spending their hard earned cash on an item beyond basic transportation they should equip it as their heart desires. Who the hell wants to spend 85k and not be in complete love with the car because they always wonder what the 8k option would have been like. Might as well just spend the extra cash and be happy.
One track experience that would have me cringe with CCB is when my car had to be hauled out of the gravel at Barber. The trapped rocks would have destroyed the rotors. |

BMW M2 CS Racing brakes: steelies - no M-CCB:
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 991 brakes: steelies - no PCCB: "The newly-developed racing brake system improves the endurance qualities of the 911 GT3 Cup 991. The internally vented and slotted steel brake discs with a 38-centimetre diameter are operated by aluminium six-piston monobloc racing callipers in the front, and four-piston units at the rear. For a comparison Cup car - no Cup car: see for example here: Cup (PFC brakes - Performance Friction Brakes Corp.): No Cup (Brembo brakes):

Wonder what that Alcon kit would cost to retro on the front of our CS (and if it fixes the wheel barrel rock issue). If it's less than 8k CCB option... I have a great powder coater near me that could do a nice color option for me on the calipers.

CCB brakes are superfluous IMHO
as much on a hypothetical M2 CSL they would have been judicious as much on a 1600 kg car with electric leather seats, HiFi Harman Kardon automatic air conditioning this remains a possible option but absolutely not mandatory

You already have a perfect option with the Essex AP set up, light as CCB and smaller rotors that work with 18" wheels

True, but curious about a "true" BMW/CS type option (that maybe doesn't require cutting heat shields).

IMO, because of resistance to brake fade CCBs are best for track use if you have the budget to replace them. I've owned 2 cars with CCBs and they really didn't do anything I could feel when driving on the street. Steel brakes have better feel and operate better at lower temps. The rotational mass savings with CCBs don't seem to provide much benefit on a heavy passenger car. Just like Carwow's test with the M2CS with CCBs getting out-braked by an RS3 and A45S... both equipped with steel brakes. CCBs are an expensive option that I believe to get the most out of them you have to on track running hard sessions. But of course it's a cool option to have and show off... even if you're not really using them to their potential. Their lack of brake dust is a decent benefit.

Isn't the caliper for the CCB and 2NH steel the same? If yes, unless someone really want the gold color calipers switching from one to the other would only require changing pads and rotors, correct?

Like I said, if you're looking at pure tangible value you're probably not looking at the M2 CS.

I didn’t get CCB. These are as big and much less to replace.
Yeah it is clean with the CCB but I don’t want the noise. You know what I mean if you have them already. I have them in my M5C. Last edited by Mikli; 08-20-2020 at 11:27 PM.. |

Plus, you probably wouldn't have to do a brake change, if it's only street driver, for a good 100k miles.. Either is a win anyways but if I'm springing for an M2 CS, I'm going for the gold.. |
