They probably laughed that he is revving his car for attention like a doucher

I'm not a girl but I know how they think, I study people's actions like a serial killer but not for nefarious reasons and trust me, the burbles get their attention but it doesn't impress them, they see it as immature and confusing like a dog.

My girlfriend is Puerto Rican is they is no more honest women on the planet; when some douche drives by us with a loud, annoying exhaust she expressing her distaste and sometimes puts up the window to drown out the sound. Most women would just ignore it but the bitchy ones express how they really feel.

Same with loud music, guys blast music to attract attention but most women think it's annoying and unnecessary. You don't need to survey women here, ask any women next to you what they truly think or Google it, the researcher is already out there.

On the opposite, men hear burbles and see a challenge.

Wow, so M2’s don’t have burble sounds? This car is looking more and more like the most (only) appealing M car of the coming BMW generation

A friend at work, on seeing my M2 for the first time, asked me if it had the 'asshole' button? Her husband has an M4 with one of the buttons programmed to open the valves...she calls that the asshole button!

Very true... however... it also really depends on the car... granted the M2 is far from any supercar, it's also not a douche pick up truck or a civic with a fart can... so some of the nice loud exhaust sound and some burbles definitely does go with the whole M2 package but I agree that too much such as straight piping plus catless DPs would be bordering into the asshole territory

They don't care.

The kind of woman who cares about what you drive (besides the fact that you have a car and you keep it relatively clean), is only really checking for exotics and superluxury cars anyways.

Amen ! Most women are turned off by cars like an M2. Makes you look a bit immature.

Now a Kharmann Ghia, original Mini or a Topolino Fiat 500, that will get their attention !

I kind of disagree. I feel women in general don't really care that much about cars or what people drive. You could pull up in an Accord or M2 and I doub't most women would be turned off by either unless they are very materialistic. Outside of exotics the only cars that women seem to pay attention to is Mustangs for some reason as they love them.

Well they notice the color of my lbb but otherwise yeah I don't think they care. Perhaps they think a BMW is going to be nicer than some other cars which is good, but the m2 is a 2 door, which they note they can probably get you to trade for a 4 door eventually.

Burbles aren't as bad as the auto rev matching feature for making you look like an idiot when driving around town. For that reason I stick to 'DSC off' whenever I'm driving in traffic or a built up area.

Never heard of this before. How could rev matching make you look like an idiot when driving around? The average person doesn't even know what it is.
Believe it or not it's not only BMW that employs this as even lower level compacts such as the Civic Type R and Veloster N have it as it's pretty commonplace these days in sporty cars.

Yes it's commonplace, but not everyone wants to drive round town with big rev blips through a loud exhaust like they're doing a rally special stage. If anything's going to draw the wrong kind of attention to you, then that's it. I just want to drive into town, park up and not worry that I've drawn the wrong kind of attention.

The fact you mention a Civic and a Veloster, kind of emphasises the point.

Out on the open road, driving in a spirited fashion, rev matching is fine, rushing round town trying to find a parking space, no thanks!

It's pretty easy to either let the RPMs drop all the way down to ~1000 rpm (since these cars make plenty of low end torque, like most turbo cars these days) or to simply avoid downshifting at all if coming to a stop and pop it into neutral before rolling to a stop. Then you don't have to worry about the rev matching. But honestly, I've never found it obnoxious at all. A car without the auto rev match feature would have to be manually rev matched anyway in many situations. It's part of driving a manual transmission car. I don't understand the hate...

Back to the original question, the primary reason for the lack of burbles in MDM mode is the MDM mode places all the settings in Comfort mode, with the exception of DSC/DTC, which is in MDM mode. The Comfort mode causes the exhaust to be quieter, and pretty much eliminates the burbles you desire.
