2020 BMW M2 COMP Pricing Canada

Hi Guys,

Need your help. I have not owned a BMW since my 135i days. However I miss it. So I am looking for a M2 competition . Found a 2020 demo at the dealer with 700 km's on it. They are offering me an additional $2600 off the price attached. Is this a good deal? Let me know what you think this should go for. SEE PDF. Basically I would get the car for $75714 plus tax.

I think there are some deals to be had these days as a result of the pandemic, even on new vehicles. Not sure if you have many options for dealers in NL, however.

In ON it seems like there are a lot of DCTs collecting dust on lots, but no MT. I bet these will be discounted at least $2600 if you ask the right questions!

(Note that I could not get a deal on my 2019 MT back in 2018 because of the lineup of people who would've bought it if I did not. These days, dealers are desperately looking for buyers.)

So, in short, it seems like a decent deal since it's a 2020 with a stick shift since they are tougher to get.

Nice that it has sunroof too. I wish I had that, but at least I have the Harmon Kardon sound system.
If you will kick yourself for not getting a new one with HK sound, I say place an order for a new one, or see if they can locate something for you from another dealer at the same price.

OR, ask them if they'll do a 4.5% discount on the demo. That's usually what I get on brand new BMW/Porsche having been a previous buyer. They still make money, so it's not too aggressive of an ask.

Also, pretty cool that your dealer's name is "M Power".

So, you are getting $2600 off the $90k? I dont know the Canadian market but that suck for a dealer demo (used). And what's the $1240 in dealer options? Carbon fiber bits or some other useless stuff? I would ask for 10% off that total price

And whats up with Freight and PDI for $2,395?

Yep, keep it simple and calculate 10% off, PLUS calculate the acceptable dealer, doc, title fees and tax. Therefore giving the dealer an OTD number to accept. All too often dealers tack on or inflate charges right before signing. And many at that point just give in, which can cost them $$$.

Also, $2K for freight and PDI?! What the hell is this? That is pretty absurd and almost all dealer profit. Unless, that $2K is the equivalent of the US destination charge, which is $995 (no escaping that).

They're charging you new car price for what is ultimately a used car! I wouldn't be interested in paying freight and PDI for a car someone else has been cruising around in.

I negotiated 5% off a new order before everything hit. They tried to rush me in to sign the papers but I wasn't willing to confirm my euro trip amidst all the lockdowns. I think you can get even deeper discounts now. I'd push for 7-10% range, worst thing they can do is say no. If you want one on the lot you have even more leverage.

Good point. It used, isn't PDI done already??

His has a moonroof and maybe some other bits. So yeah, this vehicle being a demo and in this market should be <70k

I'm not sure how the canadian market is so not sure if everyone pays that or what, but damn! Also, notice that (what I think is) tax! Yikes!

If the dealer doesn't register it, it's technically still a new car. But I think it's lame considering the low discount they're offering. A salesman has probably eaten his morning bagel and farted in it - no thanks

For a new bmw, you can generally ask for 5-7% off msrp before fees plus all required fees (freight/pdi, Ac/tire tax, ppsa) plus tax for a final out the door price.

For a demo, I would definitely ask for more % off (10% off msrp). Freight/pdi should be waived/removed as the car is used. You should calculate an out the door price with tax included to negotiate with instead of asking them to remove stuff. As long as they are willing to sell for that price, it won't matter what they removed/discounted for their own accounting.

Thanks for your help guys. The manager is driving the car so it has to be licensed I assume to drive it on the road. If they want new car pricing they should not be driving it lol.

I was able to negotiate just over 6% discount off of the purchase price (prior to tax) for a new 2020 M2C last summer just as the 2020s were released. Canada.

I picked up a new 2020 HS, DCT a month ago with $4000 off + 2% BMW Club discount + 2% off rate for loyalty and discounted full frontal ppe. I should have asked for more.
