Exactly, if I was at BMWCCA’s M car Days the last thing I would do is waste my time on M3s or M4s as they simply don't interest me.

I personally like the M2/C, but I wouldn't go out of my way to discuss it either (...well at least outside of the forum). It's not that I can't have one or that I'm jealous of someone who does.
Point taken.

Sometimes it feels like 8-yr old kids discussing their bicycle colors at the playground.

Maybe only the M3 and M4 survive in the subjective "real M car" eco-system approach of some. For some, even only the E30 M3 is worthy getting the ///M badge. As someone said: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Otherwise said, each individual should be allowed to pursue his/her strengths. In addition, a weakness in some area should not induce feelings of debilitating inferiority. Check the value you got for the money paid, what purpose you mainly use your car for (daily driver? track? mountains? mix?) and how much fun it provides when you do those things.

I wanted something somewhat track focused, yet smaller, faster, and lighter than my e90 m3. I also wanted a 6mt, 300+ hp/torque, rwd or awd and excellent driving characteristics. The m2 fit the bill, unlike most other vehicles out there. There just aren't many vehicles out there like the m2. If I was ok with auto trannies I would have gotten an rs3 or an s5. I get alot of pleasure from driving this car, real M or not, and that is what is important about the m2, not BMW M owner prestige BS.

Some have said and still say anything with a turbo isn't a "real M" so wgas what anyone thinks, any M2 is a blast to drive and it's is all relative.

There will be a day in the future where someone will say that anything without an internal combustion engine isn't a "real M" car, as electric M cars start to hit the streets. That day is coming....

Why care about what others say. Always consider the source. Some people need to get a life.

This. End Thread. Ultimately that should be the only reason anyone gets a car.

They even had car talks about several M cars but the M2 was excluded.

With every review stating that the M2(C) is the best current M car produced, I wonder why other M car owners were not interested in it?
When I pull up the the service station in my m2c the guys with the other m's jaws drop and the walk around the car like they've never seen one before haha. One guy with an m3 was whispering to his father that the one I want 🤣

I've had an 2 M3's, and an M5. The first M2 didn't impress me much just because I didn't think the engine was very good. But now with the competition and CS... well, I'll be getting a CS, lol.

Also, there are TONS of OG M2 car owners that were extremely upset when the M2C was announced feeling a bit betrayed by BMW that expressed their feelings all over these forums...why do you think that is?
There are also those of us that rushed out to buy an OG M2 as soon as the specs of the M2C were released. I wasn’t planning to buy a car last June, but after reviewing the updates that came with the M2C, and because I wanted a new one that no one else had abused, I pushed up my purchase plans while there was still inventory.

-150lbs lighter
-better seats (thigh extension is more comfortable for me, and adjustable headrest means I can run harnesses without replacing seats)
-better engine sounds
-ability to run 18" wheels for better track tire selection

For me, those things made it more of an M car than an engine code that starts with an S. The side mirrors are a very recent M thing. Not much heritage to the mirrors to be credible as a requirement for M status. Same for the power bulge in the hood...
Side mirror go back to the 90's

I haven't posted on here in awhile. Since time has passed, I've seen more M2C's on the road. They look real good, and only those who own or really know these cars can tell the difference between the OG and competition M2.

From my personal experience, I've got thumbs up and respect from owners of the larger M cars. I think people on forums and car reviewers are not like the average person. I've tried to explain to people the differences between my OG M2 and the M2C and they could care less. They just like the way it looks.
