Rock Chips!!

I was washing the car today and noticed not 1 but 3 rock chips. A pretty bad one on the front left fender and 2 on the rear right fender. which must have happened in only two weeks. It looks awful and I don't know how to fix it. Does anyone know what's the best way to fix that? I also intend to add xpel to the fenders once they're fixed.

dr color chip- super easy to use- once you put film on it probably won’t notice it

Either roads are worse or new car paint is softe.

I doubt a stone chip kit can make it perfect but Definately try. Then put Xpel on the critical areas and cross your fingers

Ya it won’t be perfect but such is life- these cars are meant to be driven and if you didn’t decide to do ppf this was going to happen.

The cool thing about dr. Color chip is that it’s usually a good match. The way it works is you use a brush and put touch up paint AROUND the chip then use a latex glove to smear it into the chip and have it fill in over time. Let it dry per the instructions and then it comes with a solution mix that you use to remove any excess paint- a couple layers of that and you won’t tell from normal viewing angles- then if you put film over that it’ll just look like a small air bubble in the film and not detract from the appearance of the car whatsoever

Fixing that yourself will be no problem, if you've got some patience.

1. Get the OEM touch-up paint.
2. Get a decent set of tiny paint brushes.
3. Get a tiny bottle of Testors paint thinner.

1. Clean the area, let it dry.
2. Put a thin coat of touch up paint on the inside of the chip, taking care to not get ANY on the outside of the chip.
3. Clean your brush and let the touch up paint dry for at least an hour.
3. Repeat until the chip is full.

Take the car to any reputable detailer. They will wet sand the area with 3000 or 3500, which will take all of 1 minute, and buff to a high-gloss shine in about 30 seconds.

This is the best route, for sure - but I would also echo what others in here have said, Dr. Colorchip is a pretty solid option and not very expensive. My car is 100% XPEL PPF'ed but it did get a handful of rock chips while on euro delivery, and I used Dr. Colorchip to fill them in prior to the PPF application when the car was back home. Perfect? No, but really hard to find the chips if you didn't already know they were there.

I gotta admit, I was hesitant to do the clearplex on the front glass, but I'm glad I did. There has been some pretty gnarly rocks that have kicked up and I hear them ping off the glass. When I inspect when I get home, they're small chips, but not as bad as if I didn't have the clearplex on there, I'm certain of that.
