CS buying (Europe)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello everyone, I’m planning to join the CS team and have a couple of options lined up. Value wise we are seeing decent prices here with official BMW dealer cars at around the 80k mark and independent dealers a little less. I have a car local to me that’s interesting as it has CCB, akrapovic and éventuri already installed plus a ton of BMW performance carbon extras and it’s from BMW who are offering a 4 year warranty. It’s on for 75k…the reason being it has 33k old fashioned miles (54km). I’ve taken a good look at it and everything is pretty tidy but clearly it was much used over 2 years including over winter as the chassis shows some accumulated grime and surface corrosion on some bolts etc. It’s hockenheim silver with black or gold wheels. On the other hand there are a couple of black cars on much lower miles (8k or less) for a few thousand more but lacking CCB and the extras, just pretty much the stock car (not that there were really any options).
I’m leaning to lower miles as I imagine this will help the car hold value but I have had enough black cars to know they are a nightmare to keep clean. Unfortunately I don’t really gel with blue so that’s out for now. What’s the view on how things bear up to mileage?
My research on CCB benefits remains inconclusive but obviously everyone loves gold bling Also any benefits for the manual seats?
I should add the cars I’m looking at are all DCT as manual cars are super rare here and command a ridiculous premium (15k plus). I’ve tried the f80 comp and really didn’t think much of the manual with this engine anyway!
Anyway cheers for this great forum and let me know your thoughts, in this game I can’t see that any option is a bad one!

Though I am biased

If you are looking to daily it and like the mods, the reliability is high enough that I wouldn't worry about the miles. Does the dealer have a service history for it?

If you are worried about holding value then less mods and less miles and plan to drive it less yourself as well.

Cheers all, I think changing the exhaust is something I would do anyway as I'm coming from a 6.3 c63 estate so obviously the drama is 'quite a bit' less with the s55 and the opf filters. I've found a low miles black/gold car with a milltek road legal setup that does away with the rear ballbags so I think that's the one for me…I'm a little nervous to go ceramics as I don't fancy paying 10% of the cars value for a new set of rotors and I live less than 90 minutes from Spa/Nurburgring so I plan to track it from time to time…

Manuals are not rare at all in the EU. I had my pick of them a year ago when I decided to not buy a second CS for Spain. Back then they were below MSRP.

33k miles is a lot of miles for the time period. Someone had fun.

I wouldn't worry about 33k miles on a 2 year old car. These things can handle a great deal and that would not put me off.

Agreed. I did 50k on my F80 with a S55. Not a blip of an issue after almost 7 years. The M2 CS has the standard S55 engine from the F8x comp so nothing special on that front. That's a small thing but something that sets it apart from the other CS models in the M range.

I'd be far more worried about a car with 5k miles that had been beaten up on a track than a 33k car with only everyday driving miles on its counter.

If you look at the number on sale there are just under 50 available in Europe, only 5 manuals and starting at 92k. It's a big mark up. I'm just kicking myself as I passed on a 2k miles, manual, ccb misant car on at my local bmw dealer for 88k a year ago, stupidly thinking the price would soften up a bit!

Manual M2CS are by far rarer in EU than automatics- i would guess 15% manuals to 85% autos. USA had by far the most manuals (maybe more than autos 60%manuals to 40%auto) , as there the demand on manuals is high on this segment , especially on the M2 CS for many reasons.

That said Jimjamz, you did 50k km in 7 years; this car did it in 2

In Australia, we received 84+2 cars - 43 of them, I believe, were 6MT

That's bloody marvellous - kindred ///M spirits
We've just had the Adelaide Rally this weekend

Unanimously, the consensus was:

"BMW ///M Drivers Rule" - AMG drivers are damned useless

Thank you; and yes it is. The Rally is awesome - in fact, November and December form the Festival of Speed in Adelaide. Next week will be the V8 motor race (called Clipsal 500).

And yes, Adelaide is one of the most beautiful spots in the world - ranked fifth most liveable city in the world.

Look me up when you come to town 🎆🎇🎆
