Camber Plates Design Comparison
For a while I've thought, "All the monoball camber plates are pretty much the same." Having the recent luxury of having three different makes of monball camber plates (Ground Control, Vorshlag, and Millway) and inspecting them further I've found that my perception was really wrong. There are clear design differences with each, translating into strengths and weaknesses.

As a follow up, if you're wondering how to replace the monoballs in your Millway camber plates I made the video below on the process. Quote:

Concisely detailed, unbiased, and very well presented. Thanks for taking the time to make such informative content, this is a great buyer's guide.
I recently installed Ohlins R/T on my OG M2 and have been looking into adding camber plates, which I originally avoided to keep NVH down. Slight regret. |

Thank you for this review. It has me considering moving to the Vorshlag from GC to reduce the spring noise I often have on my MCS setup.

Nice video!
It's too bad you didn't have a set of TCKline plates. Those are what I run and I find them very well done. Relatively low NVH and very solid. |

Recently installed Vorshlag Camber Plates on 18 M2. Can highly recommend them. Zero noise or vibration. Was hesitant to use Camber Plates because of all the complaints of Noise and Vibrations. Could not be happier with them.

Good video!
I'm getting the Vorshlag camber plates installed in a few days. My shop recommended them over GC and Millway so that's what I went with.

Great video.
Would be good to gather info of what max neg camber is achievable for each without having to remove the alloy brace for access to the plate adjustment screws. I believe the GC allow more adjustment because you can move 2 of the screws to other holes, but how the brace is fixed to the GC plates doesn't look solid. I have Millway street plates, with Ohlins R&T (lowered 10mm with stock top hats) max camber leaving the alloy brace left on is -2.4. Between swapping in the Millway plates & -2.4 camber car dropped another 4-5mm. |

On my M235i I had the M2 Ohlins kit modified to fit the f22. I ran the Vorshlag Camber plates. Still a lil noisy but nothing like these GC plates. LESSON LEARNED!!!! Now I need my CC . |

Great video! Thanks for the detailed look at these plates. From a mechanical engineering standpoint, it's an interesting look at 3 different approaches to a singular problem.
If possible, it would be nice to know stack height measurements for the camber plates versus the stock top hat. I know there are various claims made, but nothing beats measuring the actual end products. I'm also curious about the monoballs themselves since I assume they are industry standard parts. I wonder what the specs are on each versus their application loads. It's been many years now, I guess back in 2005, when I put GC camber plates on my E39 M5 when they first made them available, and for that design back then they claimed there was no increase in stack height versus stock. It turned out they increased stack height about 1/4" which was undesirable. Fortunately, they never had any rattles or clicks (sold the car in 2018), but they definitely increased NVH transfer. Once I installed monoballs in the thrust arms, then the NVH went way up all via the GC plates to the chassis.

Solid comparison; I've been very happy with my TCKline Camber plates.

I thought about that, but would only be able to provide it for standard coilover springs. I think generally the stack up height comparison to OE is more useful when doing it for the OE spring perches (and I don't have those for Vorshlag or GC unfortunately).

FaRKle!,
Off this topic, but pretty sure you know the answer -- does the front subframe on an F31 have to be lowered to change sway bars?

Yes. Subframe has to be lowered for front and rear bars on all the F2x/F3x. I have some DIY videos for both on my channel.

One thing on the GC plates and, I think the reason for the silver ring is it allows you to make minor caster adjustments. If you look at the underside, the 6 fasters have tiny slotted holes which would allow caster adjustment to some degree. Probably just to dial one side up or down to match the other.
I'm still deciding which I want. I've had GC before on a Golf R and had no issues. No noticeable noise.
