I think the F80 is the first sedan to get it. So it was only coupes before the latest generation.

How much weight does the carbon roof save? I suspect it is more of a unique selling point item than a huge weight saver but I'd love to know the number on the M4.

yes... that depends of course if you consider the M6 gran coupe to be a " coupe " and not a sedan

AFAIK the first BMW with more than 2 doors to offer an CFRP roof is the M6 GC.

If you can figure out a way to concisely state in one sentence, which M cars get a CFRP roof then... I'll be impressed.

As stated previously... I've never considered a CFRP roof to be an M car " prerequisite". I think that we can clearly understand that BMW adds this feature to different vehicles... but without any consistent application.... such that no M enthusiast should EXPECT that this feature will be included.

BMW installs CFRP roofs on the cars they see fit, not the cars we see fit!

BMW puts a CFRP on the most expensive M cars.

Yeah, no. Something I actually give a crap about is the exception. I'm just bored and poking at shit.

+1000 getting a bit lame that there 's a new thread about the front bumper. Wowee. Getting a tad sad and rinsed and repeated now. Sorry I'm not that desperate to get excited about this. talk about milking a release.

I'm not knocking the car, its going to be very good.... but show it or don't, revealing another 3cm each day lol. Tomorrow the exact height of the M2 badge is revealed, glee!

...and yes I did get out of the wrong side of the bed today lol

I think the e60 M5 CSL had a carbonfiber roof. I guess one should say that the more sporting M CARS have carbonfiber roofs. M6/M6 GC are more sporting than an M5. M3/M4, again, are more sporting than the M5. And so is the intention of the M2. Look at the demographics of who may get an M5. The majority are not going to care about a carbonfiber roof. They probably would want a moon roof instead. Now, does this mean that in the future that the new G series M5 will not get a carbonfiber roof option? No, it does not.

Yes, would definitely check that box.

How's this fussy I don't know. Simple? No. Fussy? Hell no.

going back and looking at the renderings of M4 and M3 I don't think you can really draw a conclusion on what it will look like. I mean some of those old rendering were god awful

A CFRP roof or no CFRP roof, that's not the question.

Enthusiasts would welcome an interpretation of the GT6 Vision Concept (which features extensive use of CFRP, but - except if mistaken - no CFRP roof).

Enthusiasts will get a real life interpretation of the GT6 Vision Concept.

That render was made before the final M3/4 mules were spotted, which is the stage we have now reached with the M2. You're seeing the real deal in the most recent shots. The front aero design is completely visible.

Maybe if it is based on the Gt6 concept as with the side mirrors what if they add a new rear wing spoiler as the last touch to it compared to the original small one?
