$2,000 for a new bumper cover painted and installed sound reasonable?

I hit some road debris and need a new bumper. Quoted over $2,000 after instal and paint. Sound reasonable or should I keep shopping to another good shop? I think the cover itself was $900 alone.

That sounds about right to me... FWIW - my ED car had some paint peel when the front euro plate was removed by the PPF installer (to this day, I do not know whether it was damaged prior to the plate being installed at the welt (unlikely) or if my reputable local PPF installer did it when removing the adhesive (they claim it was already there)... Nonetheless, after many months, I got BMW to agree to pay to fix it at the shop of my choosing (the best body shop in the STL area), and it was about $900. Mind you, this was fixing a ~quarter size area of missing paint, blending solely in the bumper (no other panels) and re-clearing the entire front bumper. $2k for a full bumper paint, the bumper itself, and install sounds pretty reasonable. Also, the shop did a fantastic job and it's literally impossible to tell it happened or was re-painted/cleared on LBB paint.

The bumper can be acquired for as low as $600, but the price with paint and labor sounds almost reasonable (for a dealer)

The OEM bumper cover (51118092611) is $626 + shipping with a $200 core. Even aftermarket is $600 shipped. Time, paint and materials you're looking at $800 max, so $14-$1600. $2000 is a bit high, but if you trust the shop to do good work, then it's ok to pay a bit more. You could call around to your local bodyshops to get estimates as well, it's pretty easy, they can pull it up in just a few minutes.

Now, depending on the color of your car, and time in the sun you might have a match issue, so then you're talking about the hood and fenders being blended, which will add another $1000 (the color is spotted in and the entire panel is cleared).

That's what I figured, price was just a bit higher than I expected so wanted to double check. I thought $2k would cover it all including PPF but that will be another $500 or so. Ouch. The shop is top notch and has done great work for me in the past so I'll likely move forward. Thanks y'all

I paid $2400 for a new OEM bumper and repaint. This is probably the best shop in my area, so take that into consideration.

Edit: this did not include the new ppf and ceramic coating.

That sounds very normal for a decent body shop

$2400 is too much, best shop or not. But if you've got $800 to throw away...

They do the best work in my area. That's just the price one will pay. I can't ship my car to your shop and make it work out the same.

Sounds about right. Who is fixing it? Avoid Chapman's body shop in Tempe at ALL costs. Horrendous experience there by a friend, and the adjuster who handled my Z4MC claim last January confirmed that it's a complete shitshow.

Are you not going through your insurance? I hit a deer and it was covered under the comp policy with the deductible waived.

I'll look into having the deductible waived but I'm not holding my breath. I have a high deductible and will pay out of pocket if the difference is only a grand or so. In my experience insurance companies will get their money.

Cost seems about right.

Cracked my frontbumper, bent my oil cooler, and damaged one part of my suspension. Cost was 4k euro with new bumper, and oil cooler. Hit a badger driving 130km/h 😅
