Now that we've basically seen what the G82 M4 looks like, how do we feel about it? Is anyone excited? Disgusted? Indifferent?
Anyone wanting to trade up for one?

I already chose the F87 over F82 mainly because of its size.

I really don't like the new design direction of the G82 and I'm worried for the next 2 series.

Couldn't agree more on the Lexus got fucked by something and a shit stained Kia/Hyundai came out...one thing is for sure...BMW ///M is not the father when it comes to this Jerry Springer version of who's the daddy.

I don't like the exterior due to the buck teeth nose but also due to the side profile... it looks like a C63, which I never liked and could never convince myself into.

The interior isn't my cup of tea either, it really appears to be a GT as it's not particuarly driver focused and the tech overwhelmes everything else. I absolutely loathe the virtual cockpit layout and goofy gauges.

This is all aside from the fact that the awd version of this car will probably weigh around 3700 pounds...

There is a lot to get used to here and this doesn't seem like a car the typical M4 owner would want... in fact, this has been available for years; it's called an RS5.

Agreed with this. Worried about the grille, size (length about 188 inches), weight (about 3,900 pounds for AWD Competition version), and no DCT. The car looks huge and I'm sure will feel huge.

surely it will be a great performance car, numbers wise....
surely some people who like the latest and greatest will think it's amazing looking..
definitely will have the latest technology BMW has to offer....

BUT

* the size and overall shape has kept getting more bloated, this one is no exception
* that front fascia is HEDIOUS. Even Chris Bangle would puke
* Loss of DCT is a big con for me (don't care how "fast" the new autos are)

And I hate to admit it, but the C63S - yes, MERCEDES, now will become the best looking german / teuton sport coupe

UGLY+ 4WD(rumors saying no 2WD for UK)+no DCT+crazy price tag+same ugly steering wheel as every other bmw
it is a big step backwards to my eyes

The biggest issue is how it looks, but I'm no surprised after the ugly Z4 front, ugly 2 series FWD I don't think I'll get used to it

Was it too difficult to make it look like a smaller M8?

Not an M2C owner yet but.. look at this lines and check performance dynamics of the suspension, born to race (Sarcasm)

Side note: I thought that the front would be the ugliest part of the car, guess I was wrong, only fan's hope is the M version (firing designer first)

I don't really have an opinion as I don't want one, but when I scrolled past these photos i thought it was a Mustang at first glance. So that says it all for me.

I passed up an M4 because it was a land yacht. With the new 4 series even bigger, I have zero interest. The M2 is already the size of an E46 M3. Can’t imagine how big the nest 2 series will be.

I hope this is true!

The best news of all of this is its chassis. If Autocar is correct, the future 2 Series Coupe — and in turn the M2 — will actually be based on an architecture similar to that of the new BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra. That could be huge news, as the current Z4 might be the most fun BMW currently on sale. So giving its low-slung, bespoke sports car chassis to the M Division to play around with should be incredible.

Difficult to make a definitive judgement without seeing it in person. I know it will be the fastest, most capable M3/4 yet and a very well sorted piece of kit. I'd get the G80 for the rear doors anyway though.

This is the main issue. And the new G82 is 5 inches longer than the F82 which makes it substantially bigger than the M2 competition.

Not sure how much heavier it will be as the new G series is closer to 4000 lbs which is similar in weight to the C63s with a V8.

Plan is to keep the M2, and lease the G80 for rear door. I just hope someone comes out codes to code out the instrument cluster.

Buck teeth and the softening of the body lines ruined this. Remove the badge and grill and you might have trouble figuring out who the automaker is. Really worried for next gen 2 series.

Just makes me feel even better about my F87 purchase. But as others stated, I am extremely worried for the next M2 and the future of BMW.

This M3/4 represents another step into the deep end for BMW as I'm sure the M3/4 will have all of the following unwanted features (which will make it to the M2)

-Larger in weight and physical size
-Loss of DCT gearbox
-S58 Lag + Lower Redline
-Pushing RWD power to its Limits
-AWD + Slush-box = Heavy Audi
-Digital Gauges w/ Ugly Tachometer
-Still Numb Steering Feel

I think the F87 will be a keeper in my garage. Wife and I actually bought a new SUV daily for her to help keep the miles off M2 since we were using it as a daily and want to preserve it since it could be my last BMW for a while.
