Visually, from the outside, no point in upgrading just for the sake of that. And the OG wheels are definitely nicer and more aggressive looking than the Competition ones.

I guess another thing people think about is how much would it costs them to shed 150 pounds? Will you have to upgrade the exhaust of the M2C and wheels to live with the car?
Even at $10K price difference (assuming I can find a 2018 below MSRP, which is still pretty damn hard deal to get), it's an easy decision for me. I will spend $15K more (minus the money I will make after selling the stock wheels and BBK) to improve the performance, shave off 150lbs+ etc and I will have a short wheelbase M4 CS at $75K. Even a bone stock M2C at $60K is a pretty good deal IMO. I don't know if I would have upgraded to M2C immediately if I had an OG M2 but I'm still in a similar situation. Recently transferred my M4 Comp lease and I can right now get another M3/M4 below invoice, a 2018 M2 at or near invoice, or 2019 M2C at MSRP. As a former S55 owner who also drove N55 M2 on and off track, I chose the one that has the best of both worlds for me (S55 and short wheelbase).

Edit: $3K is for rims only. I don't think @hellrotm mentioned it would include Cup 2s either.

My point is that the link I posted was for the wheels AND tires for USD $2,700...and the seller only had 1,900kms (1,180 miles) on his car when I saw it. Those tires likely have <1,000 miles on them and the seller's car wasn't even at break-in, so doubt he was burning up those tires. The new car will come with MPSS or PS4's, if he's lucky not to get the Conti's.

To each their own, but to say you would pass on this deal, so you can buy rims ONLY for $3,000 doesn't make a lot of sense to me. This is why I asked for clarification.

The 437M wheels really set off the M cars to me. Doesn't look as BA with multi spokes IMO.

Umm. Yeah. Really salty because I had the option of upgrading but decided not to? I missed the part where I was forced to keep my current M2. Selective reading much?

side by side that new grill looks like a tacky aftermarket addon as do the wheels.

If you don't wanna take a big financial hit by selling your OG M2 and upgrading to M2C, it's totally understandable but the $4K price difference between the MSRP of two models is a no brainer. In most markets, BMW is charging extra for the 788 wheels, the BBK, and the seats (Yes, I know 788 wheels are ugly but BMW still charging extra for them in many markets). If BMW were to do the same in US, we would have had to pay around $4K+ for the wheels, brakes and seats alone probably and the base price would have been very very close to the MSRP of 2018 M2. Again, losing money on your 1-2 year old, almost brand new car is never fun so it may not be a good financial decision in many cases but at the same time $59k MSRP of M2C vs the $55K MSRP of 2018 M2 is a bargain considering you are getting S55 with much better cooling, BBK, seats, and bunch of other upgrades.

Edit: I thought I have seen some complaining about the MSRP of M2C but I guess many people are just talking about going from M2 to M2C. Yea it's a tough decision in that case as I said but I'll keep my post for those who don't already own an M2
One thing to consider though, it's doubtful anyone will be procuring a M2C at or below invoice any time soon. Two months ago my CA secured a '18 M2 built to my spec just sitting at the port waiting to ship to the states. With the USAA military discount (now expired) my final price was $2k under invoice. If I hop on the BMW configurator and spec out a manual BSM M2C with Exec pack, the MSRP equates to $9,530 more than my '18 M2 was. Personally I didn't feel the M2C was worth that extra premium considering there are things about it I'm not really a fan of.

Point being, at the moment there are some great deals to be had on remaining 18's with considerably more savings than just $4k. But not for long

Agree. I just picked up a 2018 and saved $10k over what an M2c would have cost (if I could have found an allocation at MSRP anytime soon). I'm sure the M2c will be better/faster in many ways, but I'm not a fan of the wheels and grill and I just love how the OG M2 sounds. As long as we are all enjoying our cars we should be happy!!!

Well, my M2 is my daily drive car. I like it a lot (too much to my wife's taste), but I'm not a millionaire, and if its fuel consumption was 20l/100km or more, it would never have entered my garage...
And, to be honest, I like my car, but I also like very much Earth, so even if money was falling from the sky directly into my pocket, I would not buy a car that has the same fuel consumption than a M1 Abrams (which is a battle tank BTW, not a BMW M-car).

interesting...seems a decent amount are dropping out of their M2C orders...we'll see what happens once full mag tests and buyer reviews come in how that changes, if at all.

Totally makes sense. It depends on what you are looking for or what you need. As I replied to another member above, even at $10K price difference I would still choose M2C over OG M2 but I probably have different expectations and priorities than some other folks here
