Steep driveway curve solutions!
Howdy all,
I recently signed a lease on a place while our house gets some work done, and it’s driveway is one of those angled entry types that is quite steep. I haven’t had a chance to see if the M2 can get up onto the driveway unscathed (a snapped Achilles’ tendon makes driving a 6MT problematic) but from the eyeball test I am certain my front splitter will scrape. So, my question is, has anyone here got the same driveway curb problem and what contraption did you purchase to fix it? I’m thinking of something like this http://https://www.amazon.com/Car-Vehicle-Curbside-Driveway-Ramp/dp/B07RCTXSYY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=driveway+ramps+for+lo w+cars&qid=1584020228&sprefix=driveway+ramp&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyVldUS 0VTMjhNSkQ5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDM2NDA1MVhGN1RNUUJ UOVpUMSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUExMDI5NTIySFdUWTdHRks5U EhWJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3R pb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= but haven’t done a lot of other research yet. Suggestions welcome! Thx. |

I've experienced this. Never buy a house with a steep driveway. Kills you when selling. Good your renting. Any pics of driveway. I had a lowered miata and very steep driveway. Backing in is helpful if really steep as push vs pull seemed to matter. Don't go slow up the driveway. Mine was slightly less steep on one side vs the other. Entering at an angle helped. Mine was less of an issue with front or rear scraping. More of frame rails if entering or exiting driveway incorrectly

My parent's house has a flat driveway but a really steep curb that steps up to it; I absolutely have to pull in/back out at an angle when I go visit them - even my wife's totally stock Accord scrapes

I was thinking of having a wood plank cut to shape but to be honest it’s such an awkward shape, not sure it could even be done [/IMG] |

I wouldn't use anything that you would be upset about someone running off with. Do you have to worry about blocking water drainage flow? If not you could just pay to have some concrete poured to fix it to your liking.

And yeah, that was my first worry, someone running off with the wedges. It will definitely happen. |

Get some wood dowel, spray paint color of concrete, and use a few dabs of liquid nails to adhere to concrete. You'll be able to pull it up if needed, but someone would have to put in effort to remove it. And it's cheap

View post on imgur.com It looks less than ideal (although I have added more gravel now, picture was a WIP!) but still has good drainage and it's removable when I leave this place, or if the local council take issue with what I've done. Driveway dips down right before a very high camber piece of road, so the car just scrapes on the way out. Not anymore! |

This is what you want. Not cheap, but these are common in CA which has steep curbs for drainage.

Buy direct from Bridjit. Shipping is free and fast. Resellers charge more than direct purchase and have longer lead times. We had it two or three days after placing the order last year.
