BMW M Drive Analyser
Has anybody used this? How does it compare to other similar apps? I was looking for the BMW M Laptimer but that seems to have been discontinued. Downside of this is you need to buy the OBD stick from BMW so want to get people’s experiences before paying for the OBD stick.

I have it. The software is really nice but you cannot customize it. The developer makes this version for BMW. You can also purchase their version but I don't think you will save anything.

I've used it, and I agree with the assessment that it's not particularly customizable. I switched to a Kiwi OBD and I use the TrackAddict app, along with RaceRender on my computer. There's room for improvement to be sure, but it's a fairly good setup.
Example:

It's cheaper and more flexible, but I've found there's also more room for user error. The BMW M setup is super easy to use, but most of the folks I've talked to at track days use setups similar to mine. Harry's Laptimer app is also really popular.

Hello All,
Big fan of the p/n 61432365115 IOS version. Seems it has gone up in price, and less widely available. Have not used the higher end tools as Aim Solo, but I've used the Harry's Pro, and track addict and the M laptimer. The M-drive shines in the display of the recorded video (once exported to video) - that is more for visual entertainment, but it is even more capable as an analysis tool. It can display vehicle data as engine rpm, gear, throttle, brake, and also G forces(of phone device) overlayed to map. And vehicle data is of sufficient rate to be meaningful. It also exports to Excel, and RaceRender format for those that want to do more deep analysis or compare lap to lap for improvements in driving technique. There are some videos on YouTube showing video exported. Regards, *below shows track session - before entering RH 90 degree corner - yellow is braking G, red is lateral G, and blue is throttle input. (steering input not a signal, but that could be captured by video) (lateral G shows roughly the G loading and/or steering input to car) Last edited by m3driver999; 04-25-2019 at 01:07 AM.. |

If you are looking for hardware options that have finer GPS resolutions you may want to consider things like VBOX or their other options but those get expensive fast.
